The IVPP Program at Parul University, attended by Hendar. (Doc. Parul University)
India, (28/02/2026) – Dr. Bonifacius Hendar Putranto, S.S., M.Hum., a lecturer from the Faculty of Communication Sciences (FIKOM) at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), represented Indonesia as the first lecturer to teach at Parul University through the International Visiting Professor Program (IVPP) for one month. This IVPP program also included nine professors from various countries, Germany, Jamaica, the USA, Russia, South Africa, Australia, and Vietnam, thereby creating a multinational academic environment that fosters an intensive cross-cultural exchange of perspectives.
As a form of UMN’s commitment to expanding its network and contributions on the global stage, participation in this international program represents a strategic step in strengthening exposure and cross-country academic collaboration.
“From the beginning, I was interested in getting involved in the IVPP program organized by the Center for International Relations and Research at Parul University under the direction of Dr. Preeti Nair. This program itself is intended to provide greater exposure to Parul University students and faculty through international knowledge and perspectives, presented by international experts in attendance,” Hendar explained.
Over one month, with a total of 21 lecture sessions, Hendar taught Intercultural Communication and Conflict Management to 30 MBA students from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), in line with his academic planning and areas of expertise.

“Drawing from my expertise in Intercultural Communication and Communication Ethics, this interest was strengthened by the complex history of intercultural conflict in India occurring at various levels. In that context, I also integrated gender conflict issues, considering the high rates of violence against women in India, especially since late 2012, as an effort to enrich students’ critical insights,” Hendar added.
Outside of lecture activities, Hendar also participated in research engagement discussions with lecturers from the MBA program of the Faculty of Management Studies and the Journalism and Mass Communication department of the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Parul University. This forum was used to disseminate research findings published in reputable international journals (Scopus-indexed) and to advance the International Research Network (IRN) ‘s aim of fostering collaborative publications and cross-institutional research development between the UMN Communications Faculty and Parul University.

“During the one month involved in the IVPP, I encountered various new things I had never seen before. From visiting the Advanced Skills and Simulation Centre and Parul Sevashram Hospital, which provided concrete illustrations of educational practices and professional training in the healthcare sector, to observing how professional codes of ethics are embedded in a multicultural societal context. Additionally, I gained a deeper understanding of Indian culture and the openness of its people to various different cultural backgrounds. This experience was further enriched through an audience with the President of Parul University, Dr. Devanshu Patel, and university leadership, which provided strategic perspectives on institutional management and strengthening international academic networks,” Hendar ADDED.
Involvement in the IVPP program marks a concrete step in strengthening ongoing collaboration between UMN and Parul University, while also opening up the development of a broader International Research Network (IRN) through networking with professors from various countries. This initiative is aimed at collaborative Scopus-indexed publications and cross-institutional research development in the fields of Intercultural Communication, Sustainability and Gender Mainstreaming, and Social Change.
