FIKOM UMN and Manila Central University Set to Build Cross-Border Collaboration

Tangerang, (09/09/2026) – The Faculty of Communication Sciences (FIKOM) at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) is strengthening its international university network through a new collaboration with Manila Central University (MCU). The partnership will open up opportunities for internationalization programs involving FIKOM UMN’s Communication Science, Digital Journalism, Distance Learning (PJJ) , and Master of Communication Science programs.

Established in 1904, Manila Central University (MCU) is a higher education institution based in Manila, the Philippines. Beyond providing quality education, MCU also places a strong focus on driving innovation in education. The discussion was attended by Assoc. Prof. Reginald H. Gonzales, BA Communication Program Chair at Manila Central University.

“Collaborating with UMN is a great opportunity for us, especially since our Communication Program was only recently launched. This collaboration is a strategic step for us to strengthen and further develop the program. There are many opportunities we can explore together with UMN, and we are certainly open to different initiatives moving forward,” said Reginald.

Reginald also shared several potential areas for collaboration, including research across various fields, faculty and student exchanges, and community service programs.

“We are open to the various internationalization programs offered by UMN. Through this collaboration, we hope to strengthen the relationship between UMN and MCU while creating new innovations that can benefit not only students and faculty members, but also the wider community,” he added.

Dr. F.X. Lilik Dwi Mardjianto, S.S., M.A., The Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at UMN, was also present at the discussion and welcomed the collaboration between UMN and MCU. He sees the partnership as a strategic step for FIKOM UMN to expand its network of higher education partners.

“This is a great opportunity, especially for FIKOM UMN. I see many areas where this collaboration can create value for both sides. Moving forward, the collaboration will involve all programs within FIKOM UMN. It will not be limited to academic opportunities for students, but will also involve faculty members,” said Dr. F.X. Lilik Dwi Mardjianto, Dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences at UMN.

Lilik also proposed several internationalization programs that FIKOM UMN and MCU could develop together, including visiting professor programs, guest lectures, curriculum matching, dual degrees, joint research, and various sustainability initiatives.

“I hope this discussion and collaboration can lead to a meaningful partnership and build a long-term relationship. Through the various programs we develop together, we hope this collaboration will benefit students, faculty members, and both institutions,” Lilik concluded.
