Tangerang, (April 21, 2026) – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) has the opportunity to expand its international collaboration with the Harbin Institute of Technology in Shenzhen. This collaboration will involve all UMN faculties in both academic and non-academic programs.
Harbin Institute of Technology is a leading university established in 1920 in Shenzhen, China. With a vision to become a world-class educational institution contributing to global development, Harbin Institute of Technology continues to promote international collaboration in education, research, and community service.
“This collaboration discussion marks the first step for UMN in initiating and aligning programs between UMN and Harbin Institute of Technology. There will certainly be various programs that can be implemented together, benefiting both universities. In the near future, programs that can be carried out together include student exchange, student mobility, visiting professors, guest lectures, joint research, and joint degrees,” explained Prof. Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalization.
For Friska, this collaboration opportunity is valuable for UMN in providing global experience and knowledge to the UMN academic community. Friska herself believes this collaboration will be of interest to both UMN students and faculty members.
“I hope that through this collaboration, we not only expand UMN’s network but also support UMN in gaining recognition on the global stage once again. Through this collaboration, I am confident we can also support Harbin Institute of Technology in achieving its global goals,” Friska said.
Prof. Ke PENG, Deputy Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Faculty of Future Studies, also views the collaboration between UMN and Harbin Institute of Technology as a positive and sustainable opportunity. For Ke PENG, this collaboration could eventually involve students and faculty members from both UMN and Harbin Institute of Technology.
“We are currently also focusing on internationalization, so we are open to the programs available at UMN. Additionally, we are exploring other opportunities, including study scholarships for international students, international internships with industry partners, and, of course, research on topics that can be aligned,” Ke PENG said.
Ke PENG mentioned that immediate collaborations include short-term programs and research, specifically covering topics such as Visual Communication Design (VCD), Big Data, Data Intelligence, and Architecture. These topics are also expected to expand further and encompass other academic programs at UMN and Harbin Institute of Technology.
“In my opinion, there are quite a few similarities between UMN and Harbin Institute of Technology that can be leveraged for collaboration. It is hoped that through existing programs, both parties can benefit. I hope this collaboration can be formalized and implemented soon,” he added.
