More Than Just Research: UMN’s MMT and DMT Programs Empower Students to Navigate the AI Era

Tangerang, (04/09/2026) – The Informatics Study Program at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) has partnered with HENNGE to open the opportunity for UMN Informatics students to join the Global Internship Program, an international internship program organized by HENNGE. The collaboration began with a sharing session introducing the program and marks UMN Informatics’ effort to strengthen its connections with global industries.
HENNGE is a Japanese technology company specializing in cloud security and has been operating since 1996. During the sharing session, UMN Informatics students got to know more about HENNGE’s Global Internship Program, including the company’s work environment and culture. The session opened with Jay Gruppuso, Engineering Talent Acquisition, who introduced HENNGE and shared what it is like to work there.
“HENNGE is always looking for young talents in engineering. Through the Global Internship Program, students will not only learn and work, but also experience different cultures, as participants from around the world take part in the program”, shared Jay.
Jay also talked about life at HENNGE, from its flexible work culture and working style to the company’s efforts to keep up with the latest technologies. He also shared how HENNGE encourages its employees to work together and grow as a team. The session was continued by Iskandar Setiadi, Division Manager at HENNGE.
“HENNGE focuses on cloud security, which has become increasingly important as technology continues to develop. As technology grows, so does the need for stronger security, from DLP to protecting technology, people, and processes against threats such as ransomware and targeted email attacks”, stated Iskandar.
HENNGE currently serves 3,881 clients worldwide across various industries and has recruited 166 interns from different countries. According to Iskandar, the Global Internship Program gives students more than just new knowledge. It also allows them to build connections, sharpen their skills, and start shaping their career paths.

The session also featured Nicholas Dwiarto, a 2018 UMN Informatics alumnus who now works as a Technical Lead at HENNGE Access Control. He shared his career journey at HENNGE, where he has been working since 2022.
“When I first received an internship offer from HENNGE, I was really happy. I gained a lot of new and diverse experiences, which could also be valuable for students. From full-stack development using major programming languages and Amazon Web Services to application deployment with infrastructure as code and other advanced technologies, there is a lot to learn”, said Nicholas.
Beyond technical knowledge, Nicholas also gained a better understanding of Japanese culture and the country’s work culture.
“Personally, I gained many experiences that I had never had before, from adapting to new regulations and meeting local Japanese people to thinking out of the box. Working in Japan also made me realize the importance of being a lifelong learner and learning something new every day,” said Nicholas.
Nicholas also shared stories from his four years of working and living in Japan, from exploring new places to discovering new hobbies. For him, HENNGE’s Global Internship Program is something he would recommend to UMN students who want to build their careers while broadening their perspectives through international work experience.
