Tangerang, (25/05/2026) – In reaffirming its commitment to research and community service, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) hosted the 2026 Research and Community Service Contract Signing event with the Higher Education Service Institution (LLDikti) Region III. Not only serving as the host, but UMN also became one of the universities to receive research and community service funding grants from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendikti Saintek), totaling approximately Rp4.8 billion for 17 research and 6 community service proposals across three categories.
The Rector of UMN, Dr. Andrey Andoko, expressed his pride in the trust placed in UMN by LLDikti Region III, not only in UMN but also in various other universities. For Andrey, the signing of research and community service contracts serves as recognition of the educational quality and faculty expertise of each involved institution.
“With the provision of funds from Kemendikti Saintek, this must of course be used accountably, as it has been emphasized that research must have an impact and be beneficial to the wider community. Furthermore, universities are encouraged to conduct research together with industry as a strategy for industrial development. Through this step, universities can support industry and expand downstreaming,” said Andrey.
In line with this, Andrey also sees this program as an opportunity to strengthen research collaboration between universities. He outlined two research topics that are currently UMN’s focus: Artificial Intelligence and sustainability. According to him, both topics not only affect society but also contribute to Indonesia’s progress. Andrey also expressed his openness to establishing research collaborations with various universities in Indonesia.
On the same occasion, Dr. Henri Togar Hasiholan Tambunan, S.E., M.A., as Head of LLDikti Region III, also delivered an online speech.
“I am pleased that we can carry out this strategic agenda hosted by UMN. For me, this is an extraordinary form of collaboration. This kind of synergy is what we need to support quality universities, so that it’s not just about fulfilling certain aspects. This activity is more than just providing grants; it is also a place for universities to exchange ideas and establish collaborations related to research and community service,” he continued.
Henri also expressed his pride and congratulations to all universities that have received grants. For Henri, this is a mandate and responsibility for universities to implement and provide benefits to the wider community. Henri also expressed his support for the active role of each institution’s Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) division in continuing internal supervision to maintain administrative order.
The event was also enriched with discussions featuring two main speakers. The first session was led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Hotniar Siringoringo, M.Sc., IPU., a professor from Gunadarma University. On this occasion, Hotniar raised the topic “Strategies to Penetrate National Funding.” She explained how a university can develop research and technology in line with global developments.
The second session was led by Prof. Dr. Florentina Kurniasari T., as UMN’s Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Sustainability, with the topic “LPPM Governance in Improving the Quality of Research and Community Service.” She shared her perspective on the importance of research in universities, both for international rankings and as evidence of faculty quality. UMN’s commitment to providing quality research has been proven through various international accreditations, including SCImago Institution Ranking, UI Green Metric, QS World University Ranking, FIBAA, IABEE, ASIIN, AUN-QA, and ACQUIN.
The second session also featured Ir. Dafit Feriyanto, ST., M.Eng., Ph.D., as Head of LPPM at Mercu Buana University, with the topic “Strategies to Increase Faculty Participation and Proposal Acceptance Rates for Research & Community Service.” Both sessions are expected to provide new knowledge and insights to participating universities and to encourage other universities to continue providing innovative solutions to the wider community.
