Tangerang, (April 20, 2026) – The Faculty of Engineering and Informatics (Fakultas Teknik & Informatika/FTI) at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) is launching a Visiting Professor program with Prof. Von-Wun Soo from the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Chang Gung University, Taiwan, which will run for 10 days. This program was welcomed by UMN’s university administration as part of efforts to strengthen international collaboration in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Chang Gung University is a Taiwanese institution established in 1987 that excels in technology and research. UMN has already established a partnership with Chang Gung University to strengthen international collaboration.
“This visiting professor program is a valuable opportunity for UMN, particularly in the development of AI aligned with Prof. Von-Wun Soo’s expertise. We hope this program will benefit not only the faculty but also UMN students,” UMN Rector Dr. Andrey Andoko said.
Andrey hopes that through this visiting professor program, UMN students and faculty can be equipped with new perspectives on AI—one that looks beyond technological advancements to explore new potential in both academia and industry. Andrey also hopes that the collaboration between UMN and Chang Gung University will grow even stronger.
“This time, UMN has the opportunity to welcome Prof. Von-Wun Soo as a visiting professor for the Faculty of Information Technology (FTI) at UMN. Of course, the joint activities conducted this time are expected to provide even more knowledge for UMN students and faculty. Beyond academics, I hope this opportunity will lead to research on interesting topics,” Prof. Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalization, said.
Furthermore, Friska hopes this collaboration can extend to other faculties and study programs at UMN, given that AI is a topic integrated into UMN’s curriculum. Friska also mentioned various collaborations that can be explored, ranging from student exchanges between the two institutions to student mobility.
“It’s a pleasure to explore collaboration with UMN through the visiting professor program; I see there will be various matters to discuss and collaborate on. One of the immediate collaborations we can undertake together is joint research, given that UMN and Chang Gung University have research scopes that are quite similar,” Soo said.
Soo is also open to discussing future collaboration programs, specifically the 3+2 double degree program for UMN’s AI program. Soo views collaboration between UMN and Chang Gung University as crucial for equipping students with knowledge on AI-related issues, given that technological advancements are an inevitable reality.
“In addition to the FTI at UMN, I am also open to collaboration with other faculties at UMN. Of course, learning related to AI is very broad and useful for the future of the younger generation; I hope that UMN students will gain new knowledge,” Soo concluded.
