Tangerang, (02/04/2026) – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) recently hosted a visit from one of its partner universities, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM). This visit not only explored collaboration opportunities between UMN and UiTM but also featured a panel discussion with UMN’s Faculty of Arts and Design.
UiTM is one of UMN’s higher education partners that has implemented various internationalization programs, including student and faculty exchanges and doctoral studies for UMN faculty members. On this occasion, UMN had the opportunity to discuss further collaboration opportunities focused on global issues.
“This collaboration reflects a strategic academic partnership, not only for UMN and UiTM but also for Indonesia and Malaysia. This collaboration is not merely a formality; I am confident there are many collaborative efforts we can undertake to support our shared vision for the future,” Puan Mujahidah Khairun Nisan binti Rosli, Head of the Strategic Management Section, Management Services Division, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, said.
For Puan, this collaboration can serve as a platform for Indonesia and Malaysia, particularly in higher education. It is hoped that this visit will strengthen existing collaborations and foster valuable partnerships between the two nations.
“It is a pleasure to continue collaborating consistently with UMN; this serves as tangible proof of the commitment of both universities to exploring successful collaborations, whether for student programs or faculty development initiatives,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhamad Abdul Azis Ab Gani, Deputy Rector for Research, Industry Networking, Community & Alumni at UiTM, Malaysia, said.
Muhamad emphasized that future collaborations with UMN should involve industries aligned with the programs to be implemented. By involving industry, it is hoped that this collaboration will yield positive impacts and discoveries, particularly in research within the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“This visit is crucial for UMN to continue strengthening its collaboration with UiTM. Future collaborations related to AI—whether in research or other programs—are a focus aligned with UMN’s priorities, given that current technological capabilities are crucial to instill in the academic community,” noted Dr. Andrey Andoko, Rector of UMN, during the discussion.
Andrey himself is open to various collaborations with UiTM, particularly in AI and Sustainability. It is hoped that this collaboration will yield new strategic and sustainable solutions. Adding to this discussion, Prof. Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalization at UMN, also initiated various new programs.
“UiTM is one of UMN’s partners that has supported various UMN internationalization programs, particularly for students. Other international program initiatives that can be carried out together include international exhibitions, conferences, and faculty exchanges. It is also hoped that this collaboration will generate new research and publications,” Friska explained.
Friska also opened this collaboration to various other faculties at UMN that can be aligned, and it is hoped that, through this new collaboration, the relationship between UMN and UiTM will be strengthened in the future. Enriching the discussion, Prof. Dr. Florentina Kurniasari T., S.Sos., M.B.A., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Sustainability at UMN, also responded to the potential for joint research collaboration.
“UMN and UiTM already have a fairly strong relationship, and there are various collaborations that have been successfully implemented. Certainly, in the future, we can collaborate on research with UMN faculty members, particularly those UMN faculty members currently pursuing doctoral studies at UiTM,” Sari said.
Beyond the research field, Sari also opened the door to collaboration with UMN’s Sustainability Center. For her, sustainability-focused collaboration can be very broad, benefiting not only UMN but also UiTM.

This panel discussion served as a forum for sharing a wide range of perspectives on AI innovation, particularly within the creative industry. Topics ranged from the appropriate use and ethics of AI, copyright issues in AI technology, and concerns about the misuse of AI in education, to practical solutions for future learning.
