UMN Student’s Film “@yusufputus1 Baru Saja Menguggah Video” is Nominated at The FFI 2023

TANGERANG – The film “@yusufputus1 Baru Saja Mengunggah Video” (@yusufputus1 Just Uploaded a Video) was nominated for “Best Short Story Film” at the 2023 FFI Citra Cup on Saturday (10/14). This dark comedy genre film is the work of UMN students, both active students and alumni and is also in collaboration with parties outside the UMN campus.

“@yusufputus1 Baru Saja Mengunggah Video” tells the story of a workshop worker named Yusuf. He accidentally recorded himself cutting his finger on a livestream. This incident went viral, and he was even treated like a celebrity in the workshop where he worked. However, this virality brought new pressures that Yusuf had never felt.

The concept of going viral to raise social and economic status is what the movie “@yusufputus1 Baru Saja Mengunggah Video” tries to explore. UMN 2019 Film Student and director of this film, Adrian Pratama Putra Windyanto, admitted that making this film reflected social media use.

“I want to capture the events of this year that involve a lot of live streaming and provide a reflection on the extent to which humans are willing to do something for money and recognition,” Adrian explained.

The film, made in November 2022, takes place in Cikarang City, West Java, known as the largest “Industrial City” in Southeast Asia. Adrian said factory workers often asked him how to make viral videos. This personal experience then became an inspiration for Adrian.

“Cikarang City, as my hometown, has been a big influence in my films, and I also try to pour it into this movie. The hope and plan is that this film can be screened in spaces that are large in scope and get recognition from outside Indonesia,” Adrian continued.

The peak night of the 2023 FFI Citra Cup award will also be held on November 14. UMN 2019 Film Student and Producer Elvina Kurniawan also hopes that the film “@yusufputus1 Baru Saja Mengunggah Video” can be screened at various national and international film festivals.

“For now, we are still in the stage of submitting films to various festivals, so please pray that ‘@yusufputus1 Baru Saja Mengunggah Video’ can be screened at various film festivals, both local and international,” Elvina said.
