TANGERANG – Adestya Ayu Armielia, S.ST., M.Si.Par., CHE, a lecturer in the Hospitality Study Program at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), recorded a brilliant achievement by winning two awards at once at the end of 2024. After winning the Best Online Learning Design title at the SPADA Awards in 2024, she was named Best Presenter at the Higher Vocational Education Research and Community Service (PKM) Seminar in 2024.
The Directorate General of Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology announced the Best Presenter award at Harris Hotel & Conventions Ciumbuleuit, Bandung, on Friday (13/12/24).
Adestya, who also serves as Secretary of UMN’s Hospitality Study Program, is known as a dedicated and innovative teacher. She teaches several courses, including Pastry Bakery Production, Food Styling, Service Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and Hospitality E-Commerce.
“I feel very surprised and touched by this award. It feels like a dream, especially since I also received other good news on the same day,” Adestya said, referring to the SPADA Awards she received.
On this occasion, Adestya also expressed her appreciation to the UMN Institute for Research and Community Service (Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat/LPPM) PKM team for providing support and motivation and to Pokdarwis Medang partners who have synergized in developing the MSME Culinary Week. The main focus of the PKM activity led by Adestya is the empowerment of MSMEs through the development of the MSME Culinary Week in Medang Village.
“Pokdarwis Medang took the initiative to create an MSME Culinary Week event, which is held in the parking lot of Medang village at certain times. There are around 21 food and beverage MSMEs under the auspices of Pokdarwis Medang who fill the tenants. After we observed and approached the administrators, they wanted to implement this program regularly but were constrained by production facilities, promotion, and training,” Adestya explained.
Adestya and her team provided training on business, marketing, service quality, and procurement of supporting technology equipment. This training was based on the research conducted by the previous lecturer’s team.
UMN plays a vital role in facilitating this PKM activity, including providing training venues, transportation for MSME players, assistance in managing Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), journal publications, and the provision of Semester Credit Units Independent Learning Independent Campus (MBKM) for students involved.
Adestya’s success in winning this award is evidence of UMN’s commitment to supporting vocational development in Indonesia. Adestya also hopes to continue developing activities with Pokdarwis Medang partners, who have struggled together in the past year to develop the MSME Culinary Week in Medang Village.
She also gave tips for other presenters, namely preparing a good presentation, completing evidence documents, significant progress results according to targets, and not forgetting to showcase MSME processed products.
