Hendar Putranto is an alumnus of the Driyarkara School of Philosophy in Jakarta, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in 2004 and Master’s degree in 2008. He began his academic career as a part-time lecturer at the Academy of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (ATMI) Cikarang from 2003 to 2005. Since 2008, he has been a full-time lecturer in the Communication Science Department at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN). Throughout his career, he has taught various courses, including Critical & Creative Thinking, Design Thinking, Communication Ethics, Intercultural Communication, and Qualitative Research Method.
His research has been published in reputable international communication journals such as the Journal of Intercultural Communication Research (Scopus Q1, published in 2019, 2021, and 2022) and Jurnal Komunikasi: Malaysian Journal of Communication (Scopus Q3, published in 2024). As an international journal reviewer, he has reviewed numerous manuscripts for high-impact journals indexed in Scopus Q1 and Q2, including the Journal of Information, Communication and Ethics in Society (JICES), Journal of Intercultural Communication Research (JICR), International Planning Studies (IPS), Cogent Education, Cogent Arts & Humanities, International Journal of Asia Pacific Studies (IJAPS), and Culture, Health & Sexuality.
While currently pursuing his Doctoral degree in Communication Studies at Universitas Indonesia, he also serves as the Research and Community Service Coordinator at the Faculty of Communication, UMN, and as the Chief Editor of UltimaComm Journal, which is accredited in Sinta 3.
