Community Service UMN: Making a Security Report Application for RW 11 Medang Lestari

TANGERANG – Lecturers and students across study programs from the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN), held a Community Service (Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat/PKM) activity in making a security reporting application. This application was created and used directly in RW 11 Medang Lestari Tangerang. The training on using this application was held in UMN room C504 Lab. Artificial Intelligence, on Thursday (11/16/2023).

The security reporting application was created to help the community regarding security reporting every time Security conducts monitoring in the local area. 

Fenina Adline Twince Tobing, a lecturer from the Engineering and Informatics Faculty of UMN, explained that with this application, the community could also receive reports made in the form of pdf files or can directly visit the website.

The making of the application until socialization was completed in 5 months, involving UMN lecturers and students as well as the security coordinator of the RW 11 Medang Lestari. The website address is https://rwsebelasmedanglestari.com/.

“The obstacles faced were only during socialization. Not everyone is tech-savvy, so it takes more effort to provide training to the participants,” Fenina said.

The series of activities ended with the handover of plaques as souvenirs and the symbolic handover of applications, complete with guidebooks, all usernames, and passwords used.

Fenina hopes that the application that has been made can be used forever and help the community, especially RW 11 Medang Lestari, know more about real-time security reports without taking up a lot of storage on the cellphone.

On this occasion, RW 11 Medang Lestari Security Coordinator Riki Nahot Hutabarat expressed his gratitude to UMN lecturers and students for helping the Security team and residents make security reports easier.

“Hopefully, the existence of this application can make it easier for us to report accessing reports related to the security and inventory of RW 11 Medang Lestari. So that we no longer need to spam every resident’s Whatsapp, and in the future, we will take care of this application and use it as well as possible,” Riki said.

The socialization of the application was attended by the UMN Community Service team consisting of Fenina Adline Twince Tobing (Team Leader – Informatics Lecturer), Adhi Kusnadi (Informatics Lecturer), Eunike Endariahna Surbakti (Informatics Lecturer), Johan Setiawan (Information Systems Lecturer), Rangga Winantyo (Electrical Engineering Lecturer), UMN students, UMN LPPM team, Rw 11 Medang Lestari security coordinator Riki Nahot Hutabarat, Security team, and representatives of Rw 11 Medang Lestari residents.
