10th IWIC Hackaton Competing at Multimedia Nusantara University

Indosat Wireless Ooredoo Innovation Contest or more familiarly called IWIC is again held this year. The 10th IWIC this year chose Multimedia Nusantara University as the venue for the Hackaton competition on September 9 to 10, 2016.

A total of 71 teams with 2-3 young developers per team, from various corners of Indonesia competed in the 10th IWIC hackaton event. For 24 hours they competed to create a mobile phone application with the aim of creating an innovation that will bring benefits to many people.

For the convenience of the participants of the long duration of the race, several facilities such as a relaxing arena equipped with a gaming console, medical team and massage chairs, which turned out to be an interesting thing. “There are rarely kayak seats, in other Hackaton competitions” said Adi one of the 10th Hackaton IWIC participants who came from the Bandung area.

The application creation time was declared completed on Saturday (10/10) at 09.20 WIB. Of the 71 teams, the best 15 teams were selected that entered the presentation stage. The selected applications are very diverse, ranging from applications for power saving at home, games, learning applications, to applications to find hajj agency travel.

After the judging process is completed, the best third rank is selected; Pegihaji application from Jakarta (1st place), Colournesia application from Malang (2nd place) and washing app from Surabaya (3rd place).

In his speech, Indosat Ooredoo Group Head Culture Transformation Thomas Purnawan Suhardja said that Indosat Ooredoo’s spirit in organizing this competition is to encourage change and make Indonesia’s digital ecosystem better.

“The title is #changetheworld we are really serious, we want to prove that Indonesian developers are not inferior to the world’s developers,” he added.

He also hopes that through this event, we will move together to make indonesia’s digital and digital ecosystem better continue to grow and make Indonesia more calculated on the international scene. (*)
