Tangerang (August 27, 2026) – Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN), in collaboration with Google for Education Indonesia, officially launched the UMN AI Learning Center as a hub for learning and competency development in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). The launch of the UMN AI Learning Center makes UMN the first university in the Greater Jakarta area to have an AI learning center, made possible through a collaboration with Google for Education Indonesia.
The collaboration between UMN and Google for Education Indonesia in launching the UMN AI Learning Center is a strategic step toward the comprehensive implementation of AI in the educational environment. As a learning facility, this AI Learning Center embodies UMN’s commitment to integrating AI not only as a tool to support learning but also into the curriculum. Furthermore, UMN is implementing AI to support sustainability through a curriculum designed with a “Sustainability for AI” approach.

“We view AI as a development for the future, and seeing UMN embrace and implement AI in learning is certainly positive and something we can collaborate on. We must recognize that this technology is already an integral part of people’s lives today. In the future, Google for Education and UMN will certainly have even greater and broader potential for collaboration,” said Olivia Husli Basrin, Country Lead for Google for Education in Indonesia and Malaysia.
For Olivia, the AI Learning Center is part of Google’s commitment to preparing future talent and innovators. She believes the AI Learning Center can accelerate training, learning, and research; beyond just being a set of tools, the center is expected to foster critical thinking among students.
“I hope the AI Learning Center will support the Tri Dharma of Higher Education—not only by providing students with new knowledge but also by promoting research that makes a positive impact and solves problems for the surrounding community,” concluded Olivia.
The inauguration of the AI Learning Center also received a positive response from the Chairman of the Multimedia Nusantara Foundation, Ir. Teddy Surianto. For him, the collaboration between UMN and Google for Education supports both parties’ shared vision: to enlighten people.

“AI is a new language and a technological innovation—it applies not only to the fields of computing or engineering but is also beneficial across various disciplines. Certainly, the AI Learning Center is expected to assist and facilitate the four faculties at UMN and to support UMN’s vision of becoming a leading institution in the field of ICT,” said Teddy.
Furthermore, UMN Rector Dr. Andrey Andoko also expressed his pride in the collaboration between Google for Education and UMN. Andrey emphasized that this aligns with what UMN has been doing since last year—implementing AI in education to prepare UMN students, staff, and faculty for the future. For him, AI education is crucial—not only to foster responsibility and ethical use of AI but also to develop human skills.

“I hope that the AI Learning Center will not only help develop technological competencies. More than that, I hope the AI Learning Center can serve as a platform for the UMN academic community to develop skills that AI lacks—such as communication, critical and creative thinking, empathy, and good character. It is also hoped that through the AI Learning Center, UMN can have a positive impact on the wider community,” said Andrey.

The UMN AI Learning Center is designed with a variety of facilities available to the entire UMN academic community. These facilities will support and accelerate teaching and learning activities and processes. This collaboration will also offer training and certification programs that provide students with globally recognized certificates.

In the future, the AI Learning Center facilities will be divided into three zones and equipped with Chromebooks tailored to each zone.
Training Zone: A hub for educational and training activities, with a capacity of up to 30 participants. The facility is designed to support learning activities, training and certification programs, and workshops.
Research Zone: An open workspace designed to support both individual and group research. This area supports intensive AI processing—whether locally or cloud-based—data analysis, and creative visual research.
Focus Zone: A private area requiring high concentration. It is designed to support large-scale data analysis, training of complex machine learning models, research involving Vertex AI, academic writing, and the analysis of sensitive data requiring full privacy.
