What is Artificial intelligence?

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Study Program at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) offers a bachelor’s degree focused on developing artificial intelligence technology through a sustainable approach (Sustainable AI). This program is designed for high school graduates from a science (natural sciences) background or technology-based vocational schools who wish to pursue a career in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and the development of intelligent systems integrated with industrial needs.

AI at UMN not only covers the concepts and theories of artificial intelligence but also emphasizes the application of technology that takes environmental, social, and economic aspects into account. Students will learn various key topics such as algorithms, programming, machine learning, data analysis, generative AI, and the development of intelligent systems like autonomous agents and recommendation systems.

Through a project-based learning approach, students are trained to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills through real-world case studies from industry. With a multidisciplinary approach and an international network, this program prepares graduates to become adaptive, innovative AI professionals capable of delivering technological solutions that have a global impact.

Graduates of the UMN Artificial Intelligence Study Program may continue their studies to a Master’s degree (S2) in fields such as Computer Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, and Electronic Engineering.

Capaian Pembelajaran

The unique strengths and advantages offered by the Undergraduate Artificial Intelligence Study Program at UMN Jakarta are expected to produce graduates with profiles formulated by considering the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), input from practitioners and academics, as well as industry needs.

Based on the KKNI Level 6 framework, graduates are expected to become professionals who uphold ethics, morality, and diversity in applying and developing artificial intelligence knowledge, with a focus on sustainable technology to solve problems in industry and society. They are also expected to utilize technology effectively, manage interdisciplinary research with a human-centered approach, produce innovative works, and achieve recognition at both national and international levels.

The graduate profile is also designed in reference to the occupational map published by the Human Resources Development Agency of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in 2025.

Program Studi Artificial Intelligence (AI) Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) memiliki kerja sama strategis dengan berbagai institusi dan organisasi untuk memastikan kualitas pendidikan yang berstandar global. Minimum educational background: Vocational High School, 4th grade,
majoring in: industrial automation, industrial electronics, mechatronics

Required Competencies:
In the examination participants prove their knowledge in the following areas:
Able to identify type of input, output and related items of PLC
Able to read and understand wiring diagram
Able to install and test the PLC and related devices Able to modify simple ladder diagram

Student Scholarships

Scholarship pathways at UMN are offered to Grade XII high school students who demonstrate achievements in academics, sports, or the arts during Grade XI. In addition, UMN also provides scholarships for senior high school/vocational high school students who have earned medals in National and International Science Olympiads.

As a form of appreciation for the dedication of teachers and school staff in educating the nation’s future generations, UMN offers scholarships in the form of tuition fee reductions:

a 50% reduction in admission fees for children of teachers/principals, and
a 30% reduction in admission fees for children of school employees/staff

applicable to students from public and private senior high schools/vocational schools who wish to continue their studies at UMN.

Academic Guidance Meetings

Students are required to attend academic guidance meetings at least 3 times per semester. The schedule of the meetings will be provided by the respective academic supervisors. Students have to bring the academic guidance book for the meeting and they need to make sure that the academic supervisor signs it

Internship Information

Students are encouraged to find their own companies / agencies for their internships that align with the focus of the Informatics Study Program i.e. Industrial Automation. Information about available internships can be obtained from other students, social media, job fairs, advertisements in print or electronic media or even through the UMN Career Development Center (CDC).

Thesis Information

To complete the Undergraduate Program (S-1) at Multimedia Nusantara University, students must prepare, present, and defend the thesis in front of the thesis examination board, in accordance with the provisions of the study program. The preparation of the thesis is done individually and the students can choose the supervisor directly provided that the selected supervisor agrees.

Thesis Guidelines

To support the learning process, umn provided a complete and sophisticated college facility, according to industrial standards. Through the existence of the facility, students have been invited to be close to the industrial world since sitting in college and to have competence that matches the needs of the industry. That way, it will make it easier for umn students to find jobs, even before graduation.
