UMN Industry Visit to Bank of China Limited Jakarta Branch. (Doc. UMN)
Jakarta, (11/27/2025) – As a strategic step towards becoming a world-class university, UMN is not only expanding its international collaboration in the academic field but also with international industries. This time, UMN had the opportunity to discuss collaboration opportunities with Bank of China Limited, Jakarta, Surabaya, and Medan branches. This collaboration will include recruitment collaboration and other academic activities.
Bank of China has been operating in Indonesia since 1938 and began its permanent operations in 2004. Currently, Bank of China has also expanded to various locations in Jakarta and Surabaya. Through various innovations and expansions, Bank of China is committed to providing the best services to its customers. With this great opportunity, UMN had the chance to discuss collaboration with the Bank of China.
“This collaboration will focus on the recruitment of UMN students, mainly for internships, full-time positions, career days, campus hiring, and various other career activities at UMN. Not limited to recruitment collaboration, we hope that it can be expanded further and complement and encourage UMN academically through curriculum matching. It is hoped that UMN and Bank of China’s Jakarta branch can prepare a bright future for UMN students,” Dr. Ika Yanuarti, S.E., M.S.F, CSA., Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, said.
For Ika, this collaboration can provide valuable opportunities for students, and it is hoped that students will gain experience and knowledge of the global industry. This is in line with UMN’s vision of becoming a world-class university.
“Not only do we prepare students academically, but we also continue to hone their soft skills and good attitudes. GPA is important, but honing students’ soft skills and instilling the 5C values (Caring, Credible, Competent, Competitive, and Customer Delight) are also important. It is hoped that this collaboration can involve the four faculties at UMN and provide valuable experiences for the UMN academic community,” Ika added.
Bank of China Limited Jakarta Branch is open to various collaborations initiated by UMN. Considering that the Bank of China Limited Jakarta Branch also frequently opens periodic vacancies, this is a good opportunity for the industry and universities to complement each other.
“Of course, we are interested in collaborating with UMN, especially with the Faculty of Business, Informatics, and Information Systems Study Program. However, we may need other study programs from UMN in the future. This is a good opportunity for us and UMN, because we regularly offer internships and this is also an industry need,” Martha Ongkowijoyo, Deputy Head of Recruitment and Training Unit, Bank of China Limited Jakarta Branch, said.
Martha also mentioned various opportunities, including a work exchange, where employees can gain work experience at the headquarters in Hong Kong. Martha also hopes that this collaboration can be formalized soon, so that UMN and the Bank of China Limited Jakarta Branch can immediately implement the collaboration that has been discussed.
