UMN Informatics Student Wins Best Presentation Award at SPSH 2025 International Conference
October 12, 2025The UMN team made it into the national top 10 for NCS and APHacton.
TANGERANG – Students from Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) have again made their mark nationally. A team consisting of three students from the UMN Informatics Study Program class of 2022 successfully became finalists in Nusantara Cyber Security (NCS) and APTIKOM Hackathon (APHacton). APTIKOM Pusat organized these two technology competitions as part of a series of events leading up to the 2025 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) in Lampung.
Both competitions challenge students’ abilities in technology and cybersecurity. “Nusantara Cyber Security and APHacton are national competitions organized by APTIKOM. These competitions are aimed at honing talent in the field of cybersecurity and technological/AI innovation for the future of Indonesia,” UMN student and participant Linda Sundoko said.
In the NCS (Capture The Flag) competition, participants are challenged to solve various technical problems, such as exploitation, digital forensics, cryptography, and network security. This competition emphasizes technical accuracy and speed in finding solutions to cyber vulnerabilities. Meanwhile, APHacton focuses on technology-based innovation and artificial intelligence with the theme “Digital Innovation & AI for Indonesia’s Future.”
The APHacton competition covers Smart Village Tech, Green Technology & Sustainability, Socialpreneur & Disability, and e-Government Solutions. In this competition, participants are challenged to design product or application prototypes that can provide real solutions for the community.
The UMN team participating in both competitions consists of Muhammad Affransyah Bayulaksana, Linda Sundoko, and Nasywa Naura Aulia. Affransyah leads the team in NCS, while Linda acts as team leader for APHacton. “Of course, the division of labor was based on each member’s skills. For NCS, those with a background and interest in cyber security became the core of the team, led by Franz [Affransyah] to divide the roles of each member when working on CTF,” Linda explained.
Meanwhile, in the APHacton competition, Linda explained that the division of labor was done collaboratively. “I led the team in creating the final product. The process began with Nasywa focusing on data preprocessing and creating proposals for the elimination round assessment. After being selected as finalists, I started building the AI model and website structure, then Franz continued with the deployment process,” she said.
Their main strategy was to divide their focus based on their respective expertise. Their efforts yielded proud results. The UMN team reached the top 10 nationally for NCS and APHacton. UMN ranked 9th, while also winning 1st place for the Java-Bali-Lombok Cluster in the NCS event. Meanwhile, for APHacton, they secured a position in the top 5 nationally. The NCS results were announced on October 3, 2025, through the official website ncs.aptikom.org.

Linda admitted that the achievement was somewhat unexpected. “I was quite surprised because the process from registration to the end of the competition was very fast. At that time, we thought we would just register first because we had a project that was suitable for one of the competition topics. Then, Franz and I had also participated in a CTF competition before,” she said.
For them, this competition was a valuable lesson. “You don’t have to be the best or an expert to participate in competitions. Just hone your skills by gaining experience and participating in all the challenges you can. Your skills will develop from that experience,” Linda advised other students.
This achievement underscores UMN students’ commitment to honing their technological and digital innovation skills relevant to contemporary challenges, while also bringing prestige to the university nationally.
