Tangerang – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) recently hosted a visit from the University of Canberra, Australia, and the National Electric Vehicle Centre of Excellence (NEVCE) on Thursday, August 8, 2025. The visit aimed to officially launch the collaboration with UMN’s Faculty of Engineering and Informatics.
As part of UMN’s commitment to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, UMN continues to expand the scope of its collaborations and joint research with various parties. Previously, UMN had already conducted various collaborations with the University of Canberra, Australia, and NEVCE.
“I am pleased to officially launch this collaboration with the University of Canberra and NEVCE. This is a strategic step to expand and enrich research at UMN in the future; many faculty members at UMN will undoubtedly be eager to participate in this collaboration,” Dr. Eng. Niki Prastomo, S.T., M.Sc., Dean of the UMN Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, said
Niki hopes this collaboration can be implemented soon, not only with the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics but also with other faculties at UMN. In the future, Niki hopes this collaboration can positively impact society and solve existing problems.
“Of course, I am proud to collaborate with UMN because of the many study programs and different research scopes. For me, research is the main pillar of a university, and the different research scopes that can be brought together will become the main asset of a university,” said Associate Prof. Ahmed Imran, Research Leader, Research Cluster of Digital Inequality and Social Change, University of Canberra.
Ahmed is also open to conducting collaborative research with other faculty members at UMN, so there will be more discussions and exchanges of experiences and knowledge. Ahmed also echoed Niki’s statement that the current issues in the world can be resolved through broad scientific knowledge. Idris Sulaiman, PhD, Field Research Manager of the DIBI-Koneksi Project NEVCE, joined the discussion.
“This is an excellent collaboration, and we can certainly collaborate more, not only with the University of Canberra but also with UMN. Our focus is on vehicle infrastructure in Indonesia, and I hope that future projects carried out together will be useful,” said Idris.
Idris himself is interested in discussing and conducting research with UMN. For Idris, it is important to research and incorporate the values of “humanity” into all projects and research. Idris hopes this collaboration will be sustainable and produce sustainable projects.
