Jakarta—On Friday (09/05/2025), the UMN Rector and the UMN CDC visited the PT Indofood Bogasari division. This industry visit is intended to expand UMN’s collaboration opportunities with industry.
PT Indofood is a company in the food sector. Established in 1990 by the Salim Group, it has produced many food ingredients in Indonesia, such as Indomie, Ichi Ocha, Indomilk, Bogasari, and more. Currently, PT Indofood is one of the largest food producers in Indonesia.
“PT Indofood has several company lines such as INDF, ICBP, and Agro Bisnis. One of our products is Bogasari, Indonesia’s first wheat flour producer. Besides that, our most famous product is Indomie,” Yoga Nirmolo, Energy Management System & Sustainability Department Head, said.
Seeing the industry’s growth, PT Indofood is also focusing on sustainability. PT Indofood has been starting a sustainable business since 2003 and is committed to reducing gas emissions.
“We have made various efforts. Like reforestation, where the trees in Bogasari have been regulated and calculated how much energy is used. We also transitioned fuel to batteries, and the use of forklifts is getting higher,” Yoga added.
Bogasari uses renewable energy certificates made by PLN to ensure the business has zero emissions. Some other steps taken by Bogasari are solar panels, waste management, and all paperless administrative processes.
“I am happy to have this valuable opportunity. In my opinion, many industrial opportunities can be collaborated with UMN. Starting from engineering, communication, design, and business. Ultimately, we want this collaboration to be sustainable,” Dr. Andrey Andoko, UMN Rector, said.
For Andrey, PT Indofood’s vision and mission in sustainability are in line with UMN’s current focus on sustainability as well. UMN has done various things to support sustainability, such as processing food waste into eco enzymes, using solar panels, greening, and more.
“Seeing the opportunity between UMN and PT Indofood for me is quite interesting, maybe with UMN students who can collaborate and do real work, we can collaborate in the field of student careers,” Franciscus Welirang, Chief Executive Officer of Bogasari, said.
Franciscus is happy that UMN is open to opportunities for UMN student collaboration in the industrial world. For Franciscus, students’ real work provides good results for students and the company’s future.
“It is hoped that the collaboration between UMN and PT Indofood will involve all four faculties in UMN. In addition to career opportunities, it is hoped that there will be other collaborations, such as scholarships, full-time career vacancies, and internships,” Dr. Ika Yanuarti, S.E., M.S.F, CSA, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, said.
