TANGERANG – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) held an administrative and accounting training session for SMEs in Teluk Naga District on Tuesday (07/29/2025). The training session was a collaboration between UMN and PT Agung Sedayu Group.
This activity was attended by local SMEs in Teluk Naga Subdistrict, Tangerang Regency, the Agung Sedayu Group CSR Team, and UMN Gading Serpong Master of Technology Management (MMT) students. UMN lecturer Prio Utomo also accompanied the students in organizing it.
Toni Setiawan, the coordinator of this activity and an MMT student at UMN, said that on this occasion, MSME players were provided with material on administration and bookkeeping.
“The material provided covers two main things, namely the Calculation of Production Cost and Simple Bookkeeping for MSMEs,” he told UMN News Service.

The background for providing this material was that Teluk Naga MSME members had limited business administration knowledge.
“Many business owners do not understand how to calculate COGS correctly, so selling prices are often determined based on estimates. In addition, most do not record daily transactions, making it difficult to accurately determine the financial condition of their businesses. As a result, they have difficulty planning business development, are prone to losses, and do not have the official records needed to access capital loans from financial institutions,” Toni added.
The COGS material teaches MSME entrepreneurs about the concept, components, and practical ways to calculate total production costs for trading and manufacturing businesses. They are also introduced to elements such as initial inventory, net purchases, ending inventory, and upper and middle labor costs.
Meanwhile, the bookkeeping material teaches MSME players about the benefits of financial recording, daily bookkeeping formats, and digital sales reports.
This training also includes simulations and hands-on practice, such as calculating COGS using Excel templates, preparing income statements, and business monitoring.
Toni also said this training was conducted to empower MSME players in Teluk Naga Subdistrict to be more skilled in managing their businesses professionally.
“This training aims to introduce the basic concepts of COGS calculation so that business players can determine the selling price of products accurately based on cost structure, not just estimates. In addition, this training also provides an understanding of the importance of simple bookkeeping as a first step towards sound financial management. Thus, MSMEs can more easily determine their profit or loss, make business decisions based on data, and increase their credibility when applying for capital access to formal financial institutions,” he added.
This training aims to help MSME players apply administrative and bookkeeping skills in their businesses on an ongoing basis.
“In the future, this activity can also become a model for MSME empowerment that can be replicated in other regions with similar problems,” Toni added.
