TANGERANG—Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) welcomed Krya and the International Creativity and Innovation Award (ICIA) representatives to the UMN campus on Monday (02/06/25). ICIA is one program created by Krya to foster young innovators. Several UMN, Krya, and ICIA representatives attended the meeting.
According to its official website, the International Creativity and Innovation Award (ICIA) is a learning platform for young innovators. It organises experiences of creativity and innovation through online and onsite (hybrid) competitions and collaborations, which are integrated into the World Creativity and Innovation Day (WCID) initiated by the United Nations to celebrate creativity and innovation.
UMN itself has long been committed to nurturing innovation through various initiatives, such as its startup incubation program Skystar Ventures, student innovation competitions, interdisciplinary project-based learning, and collaborations with industry leaders. These efforts align closely with ICIA’s mission, creating a strong foundation for collaboration between UMN and ICIA.
“Welcome to UMN, I hope you are happy to see our beautiful campus. The ICIA will be held in 2027, and we hope that UMN will be one of the hosts. We also hope to see and discuss what kind of things we can collaborate on together,” Ni Putu Armiwirayanti as Professional Education Consultant (EC International & UOL) said, welcoming Krya-ICIA.
Krya-ICIA representatives then briefly explained their organization profile and shared what kind of activities and programs are done in ICIA.
“This year, we have already started one collaboration on student scholarships. (While showing ICIA’s website) This is not just a competition, but a platform where innovation and creativity meet,” Antonius Malem Barus, CEO of Krya.id, said. He then shared with UMN representatives how ICIA works and what they have done.
After ICIA’s presentation, UMN, Krya, and ICIA discussed potential collaborations between the parties. Krya-ICIA representatives shared that providing scholarships for UMN students is very possible, either for international students or participants of the student mobility or student exchange program. In addition, a “Winner’s Trip” collaboration was also suggested.
“Maybe next year, we can try not only a scholarship but also a winner’s trip where awardees can come to UMN. UMN can host some programs for the awardees for a couple of days,” Anton said.
If UMN gets the opportunity to collaborate with ICIA, UMN will receive exposure as a co-host and virality as grand awards from Indonesia is viral. In addition, UMN will build a close relationship with ICIA judges, which opens up the opportunity for guest lecture collaborations in the future.
“They can become guest lecturers to share insights, especially regarding innovation management. They can also meet your startups and have a discussion with them,” Antonius said.
More discussions amongst UMN higher-ups and with Krya-ICIA will be conducted before any collaborations can be planned. With opportunities ranging from scholarships and student exchanges to guest lectures and international exposure, both parties expressed strong enthusiasm for mutual growth.
