UMN Scholarship for Prospective Journalists from Belitung

Who would have thought this year’s UN brought great joy to Delvin Pramata, a student of SMAN 1 Tanjungpandan, Belitung. The young man who will enter the department of Communication Science UMN for the class of 2015/2016 managed to get the highest score for UN IPS in Belitung. He said he was shocked and happy to hear the announcement. This brought him closer to his dream of becoming a good journalist.

Delvin did since junior high school loved journalism. Not surprisingly, he then followed the journalism extracurriculars in his school. “I chose journalism because I love this field. I’ve always had a passion for there. I think being a journalist is fun because I can know the news updates early and then I can share them with other people. In addition, the world of journalism is very dynamic so if it goes into it it will certainly be exciting.”

His desire to pursue this field made him round to choose journalism as a field that he would take while in college. UMN is also his choice. “UMN became my choice to pursue journalism because I see UMN as part of Kompas Gramedia. Kompas Gramedia is a major media company in Indonesia. That’s why I don’t think again to be able to enter here,” said Delvin who last February won the 2nd short story race in Belitung.

In addition, Delvin’s desire became more unanimous to enter kompas Gramedia’s campus because UMN provided scholarships of 100% to him. Although far from home, Delvin did not hesitate to pursue his higher education at UMN. “Moreover, the facilities and atmosphere of the campus environment are comfortable. This adds to my confidence in choosing UMN,” he said. (*)
