Moving forward, UMN will continue to expand its international reach to maintain and enhance its achievements and recognition at the international level,” Friska said.
In her presentation, she also highlighted UMN’s latest international achievements, including UMN’s first-ever inclusion in the Scimago Institutions Rankings and its global recognition through the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, where it ranked 151–200 worldwide in the Art & Design category.
These international achievements serve as a strong foundation for the university to continue offering academic programs aligned with global trends. As a concrete step, UMN officially introduced the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Program to address future technological challenges, and launched the Prior Learning Recognition Program as a more inclusive and flexible educational solution for professionals.
Latest Educational Innovations: Addressing Contemporary Challenges and Promoting Inclusivity

Presentation of the AI Undergraduate Program by Niki (UMN Doc.)
Elaborating further on this innovation, Asst. Prof. Dr. Eng. Niki Prastomo, S.T., M.Sc., explained that UMN’s Artificial Intelligence Program is designed to address the needs of the rapidly accelerating digital transformation, while ensuring responsible technological development.
“The UMN AI Program doesn’t just focus on mastering technology, but also on how artificial intelligence is developed sustainably while considering ethical, environmental, and human needs. Through a sustainable artificial intelligence approach, we aim to produce graduates who aren’t just technology users, but are also capable of creating innovative solutions relevant to industry needs and supporting digital transformation in Indonesia,” he said.
UMN’s AI program distinguishes itself through a sustainable approach to artificial intelligence that focuses not only on technological performance but also on ethical, environmental, and human needs. The curriculum is designed adaptively through project-based learning and industry collaboration, supported by an international network, enabling graduates to create AI solutions relevant to future needs. To complement this curriculum, UMN’s AI program also offers a strategic partnership with Chang Gung University through a 3+1+1 scheme. Over five years, students have the opportunity to earn a Bachelor’s degree from UMN and a Master’s degree from Chang Gung University in Taiwan, following a three-year study period at UMN, one year in Taiwan to complete the Bachelor’s degree, and an additional year for the Master’s program.
“Moving forward, we hope the UMN AI program can become a driving force in fostering globally competitive Indonesian AI talent while making a positive impact on society,” concluded Niki.
In line with this commitment, UMN is not only introducing innovations in technology but also expanding access to education through the launch of the RPL Program.

As a manifestation of its commitment to educational inclusivity, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prio Utomo, S.T., MPC., Dean of the Faculty of Business and Director of RPL, explained that UMN’s RPL program is designed to recognize learning achievements gained from work experience or prior education.
“Through the RPL program, we provide an opportunity for the public, particularly professionals, to pursue higher education more efficiently without having to repeat the entire learning process. Existing experience and competencies can be converted into academic credits through a transparent and measurable assessment process,” he said.
The UMN RPL program offers several advantages, including recognition of up to 60 per cent of total credit hours, a portfolio-based assessment and competency evaluation, and a transparent system grounded in quality assurance. The program is also designed to be flexible for professionals, allowing them to continue working while pursuing their studies in a shorter timeframe without compromising academic quality. Currently, UMN’s RPL program is available for the Master of Technology Management and the Bachelor of Communication Science (Distance Learning) programs.
“Moving forward, we hope UMN’s RPL program can become an inclusive and flexible higher education alternative, encouraging more people to continue their studies and enhance their competencies in line with industry needs,” he added.
Closing the event, UMN’s General Manager of Marketing and Business Development, Arief Setyadi Hernawa, S.T., M.M., extended special appreciation to media colleagues. As part of a collaboration, UMN is offering a special tuition discount program for journalists who wish to pursue a Bachelor’s in Communication Science (Distance Learning) or a Master’s in Technology Management through the RPL pathway.
“We want our media colleagues to grow alongside UMN. This RPL pathway is a golden opportunity for journalists to convert their professional experience into academic credits,” Arief concluded.
Through this halalbihalal and networking event, UMN hopes to continue fostering positive synergy with the media as a strategic partner in communicating UMN’s various innovations and tangible contributions to society.
