Tangerang—Universitas Multimedia Nusantara officially announced its collaboration with the Wadhwani Foundation on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. This collaboration will focus on providing students with entrepreneurship education. Dr. Dion Dewa Barata, Director of WEN Indonesia, Wadhwani Foundation, and William Ekaputra Wijaya, Vice President of WEN SEA, Wadhwani Foundation, attended the event, along with UMN officials.
The Wadhwani Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 2001 by Dr. Romesh Wadhwani, headquartered in California, United States. The foundation aims to improve the standard of living of entrepreneurs and create new job opportunities. It operates in various countries and has been active in Indonesia since 2015.
“This is a great opportunity for UMN, as its vision aligns with that of the Wadhwani Foundation in developing entrepreneurship. We aim to produce graduates with an entrepreneurial spirit who are also globally ready,” Dr. Andrey Andoko, UMN Rector, said.
Andrey also added that entrepreneurship at UMN is not developed individually; for Andrey, global relationships are equally important in developing entrepreneurial competencies.
“Many students want to become entrepreneurs, but many also do not want to be entrepreneurs. Here, we not only provide education or training on entrepreneurship but also impart soft skills that will help them enter the workforce and have a positive impact in their workplaces,” Dr. Dion Dewa Barata, Director of WEN Indonesia, Wadhwani Foundation, said.
Dion also added that developing entrepreneurs benefits everyone and creates new job opportunities in the future. Dion is open to collaborating with anyone who shares the same vision, and he hopes the collaboration between UMN and the Wadhwani Foundation can be implemented soon.
“We only started expanding to universities in 2018, and currently we have partnered with 120 campuses. We are committed to collaborating with as many universities as possible. Today is a significant moment because UMN shares the same vision as the Wadhwani Foundation,” William Ekaputra Wijaya, Vice President of WEN SEA, Wadhwani Foundation, said.
William noted that UMN still has significant needs in the field of entrepreneurship. He hopes this collaboration will strengthen the relationship between UMN and the Wadhwani Foundation and lead to innovative and beneficial initiatives in the future.
In the future, the collaboration between UMN and the Wadhwani Foundation is expected to complement each other, and UMN can participate in the Wadhwani Foundation’s programs. The programs collaborated between UMN and the Wadhwani Foundation will be open to all faculties and study programs at UMN.
