Faculty Representation and Student Associations
In addition to its role at the university level, DKBM maintains representation within each faculty. Every faculty comprises several departments, and each department is supported by its own student association dedicated to addressing the specific academic and non-academic needs of its students.
These departmental student associations work closely with DKBM to ensure that the diverse perspectives of students across faculties and disciplines are effectively represented in university-level discussions and decision-making processes. This structure enables a coordinated and inclusive system of student representation throughout the University.

Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Tarumanagara (BEM Fikom Untar) collaborated with Ikatan Mahasiswa Komunikasi Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (I’M KOM UMN) in a comparative study event held on 21 February 2025 at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara. Carrying the theme “Transforming Connection Into Innovation,” the activity aimed to strengthen connections between student organizations and provide a platform for exchanging ideas, experiences, and best practices in organizational management. The event was attended by members of both organizations as well as faculty representatives from Universitas Tarumanagaraand Universitas Multimedia Nusantara. See the video here.
The program included several interactive sessions such as organizational introductions, Focus Group Discussions (FGD) among divisions, collaborative games, and a campus tour around UMN. Through these activities, students were able to engage in meaningful discussions and share insights on leadership, program development, and student engagement. This initiative highlights the importance of inter-university collaboration in fostering wider networks, encouraging innovation, and strengthening relationships among student organizations across institutions.
In addition, UMN supports a wide range of Student Activity Units (UKM) that nurture talents, interests, and leadership. One standout example is the Game Development Club (GDC), which is recognized nationally and connects students with a wider community across Indonesia, offering opportunities to collaborate, innovate, and grow beyond campus life. UMN through PJJIK established a collaboration with Dewa United Basketball Club, by providing scholarships to outstanding athletes as part of its commitment to supporting their education while upholding the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Through this program, several Dewa United athletes have enrolled at UMN and have contributed to the UMN Basketball Student Activity Unit, demonstrating that the organization is not only active at the university level but also involved in the national basketball scene through collaboration with a professional club.
In addition, UMN demonstrates its commitment to good governance through a structured and democratic process for student representation across all levels of student organizations. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students actively participate in electing their leaders in the student union (DKBM), Student Executive Body (BEM), and various Departmental Student Associations (HIMA).
