Strengthening Community Resilience Through Climate Education and Collaborative Disaster Planning
December 4, 2024At Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), staying hydrated is not only convenient but also contributes to a more sustainable future. With free water refill stations available throughout the campus, UMN ensures that students, staff, and visitors have access to clean, refreshing drinking water all day long. These stations are thoughtfully placed in key areas, making it easy for everyone to stay energized and focused whenever they need a quick refill.
More than just a convenience, this initiative encourages the UMN community to reduce reliance on single-use plastic bottles. By choosing to refill instead of discarding, each person helps cut down on waste and supports a lifestyle rooted in responsible consumption.

Free Drinking Water Facilities (Doc. UMN)
UMN has recently upgraded its free drinking water dispensers across campus by replacing older models with advanced technology featuring larger capacity and faster filtration times. This enhancement significantly reduces the waiting time for filtered water compared to the previous dispensers, improving convenience for students, staff, and visitors.
Importantly, these facilities are installed in every building, making them easily accessible to everyone on campus. The water source, supplied by the municipal water company (PAM), undergoes rigorous filtration processes to ensure that not only clean but efficiently filtered water is delivered. To maintain the highest standards of safety and quality, UMN also conducts routine water quality testing. These tests examine microbiological factors, physical characteristics such as odor, color, and temperature, as well as chemical components including pH levels, aluminum, dissolved iron, and residual chlorine. The results help guide ongoing improvements and guarantee that drinking water consistently meets health and environmental standards.
This upgrade has genuinely increased the usage of reusable tumblers at UMN. While many people previously used tumblers to refill water, the new dispensers have encouraged even more students, staff, and visitors to adopt this eco-friendly habit. This reflects UMN’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, accessible drinking water while improving operational efficiency and promoting sustainability across campus facilities.
UMN’s commitment to sustainability and clean water access is supported by the Vice Rector’s Decree No. 040/SK-WR II/VII/2019, which reflects the university’s alignment with the global Sustainable Development Goals, particularly clean water and sanitation. These refill stations represent a practical solution that reinforces the importance of water conservation and environmentally conscious habits on campus. Every refill helps reduce plastic waste while supporting UMN’s broader mission of responsible resource management.
We encourage everyone at UMN to bring a reusable bottle and take full advantage of the available refill stations. It’s a simple habit that contributes to a greener, cleaner campus. Stay hydrated and stay eco-conscious refill by refill.
