Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) has an Environmental Sustainability Research Centre operating under the Research, Innovation, and Sustainability Division (RIS Division). While the research function is institutionally integrated as a university-wide research body, it works in close collaboration with the Center for Sustainability, both of which are under the same division to ensure alignment between research, innovation, and sustainability initiatives.
The Environmental Sustainability Research Centre plays a strategic role in advancing sustainability across the university. It operates under the leadership of the Vice Rector and oversees several key divisions that support the university’s sustainability goals, including:
- Research & Innovation – advancing sustainable practices through research initiatives and innovation projects aligned with environmental and sustainability priorities.
- Government Relations & Community Engagement – building partnerships with government institutions and community organizations to implement sustainability programs and broaden impact.
- Publications – disseminating research outputs and sustainability-related findings to academic and public audiences.
- Sustainability (Center for Sustainability) – integrating sustainability principles into university operations, culture, and academic development.
This integrated structure ensures that sustainability research is not isolated but embedded within UMN’s broader academic and institutional strategy.
The Research, Innovation, and Sustainability Division has dedicated full-time equivalent (FTE) staff. The division includes:
- Head of Research and Innovation & the officer.
- Publications Manager & the officer.
- Center for Sustainability Manager & the officer.
- Head of Community Engagement and Government Relation.
These positions are formally appointed and responsible for coordinating research development, sustainability initiatives, publication management, and institutional collaboration. The existence of designated managerial roles demonstrates structured governance and dedicated staffing support for sustainability research activities.
At Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), research contributes not only to the advancement of academic disciplines at the global level but is also deeply embedded within our curriculum. Every course at UMN is integrated with sustainability values aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These courses are continuously developed and enriched through the strong research culture of our lecturers, particularly through the Environmental Sustainability Research Centre under the RIS Division.
