Day Two of COMNEWS 2025: Hybrid Presentation Sessions Strengthen Global Collaboration and Sustainable Communication Innovation

Malacca, October 15, 2025 — The second day of The 5th International Conference on Communication and Media Studies (COMNEWS 2025) took place dynamically at Multimedia University (MMU), Malacca, Malaysia, with a hybrid conference format combining face-to-face and online sessions. This event is part of the CIC 2025 Joint Conference, which includes CONMEDIA and ICON-SONIC, under the main theme of “Empowering a Sustainable Future Through AI and Human–Machine Communication.”

As the main host of COMNEWS 2025, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) facilitated more than 30 research presentations from academics from Indonesia, Malaysia, and various other countries. The hybrid format allowed for global participation via Zoom Conference, with coordination from Mujiono M.Si and Nona Evita, B.A., M.A., as online moderators.

The second day’s parallel sessions featured various studies reflecting the synergy between AI, public communication, and social sustainability.

Keynote Session and Cross-Country Discussion

In the afternoon session, the conference featured Prof. Ts. Dr. Mardeni Bin Roslee from Multimedia University with the topic “Smart 5G IoT Palm Oil Soil Properties Monitoring System,” and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Chee Yen (Bruce) Leow from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, who presented “6G: Enabling Ubiquitous Connectivity for a Fully Connected World.” The discussion highlighted the role of 5G and 6G in building a sustainable and globally connected communication ecosystem.

ASEAN Collaboration and AI Ethics

The second day was clear evidence of UMN’s commitment to developing digital communication research at the regional and global levels, focusing on ethical, collaborative, and human-centered innovation.
