Tangerang (01/10/2026) – The Faculty of Engineering and Informatics (FTI) of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), together with Cardiff University, held a two-day AI workshop. The workshop featured Professor Gavin Shaddick, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the College of Physical Sciences and Engineering at Cardiff University.
Cardiff University’s AI Workshop was open to all UMN students. In the workshop, students learned how AI works without needing coding skills or an engineering background, covering everything from writing effective prompts to understanding the ethics of using AI.
“This really helped me understand how AI works, and it turns out there are a lot of new things here that I find very useful, from algorithms and deep learning to machine learning. Everything I learned over the two days matters, especially for the field I’m studying right now,” said Daniel Wisley Purnomo, an Information Systems Study Program student from the class of 2025.
For Daniel, the workshop provided a great deal of new knowledge that will be useful in his studies. He feels he now has a foundation for several courses, including Data Analyst.

“In the Information Systems Study Program there’s a Data Analyst course, and I’ve now learned about classification, regression, and clustering even before taking that class. This workshop will make things easier for me when I do take it,” Daniel said.
Daniel stressed that AI is one of the important things for young people to learn, not only for those working in engineering, but in all sorts of other fields too.
“It’s important for young people to keep up with what’s happening. By learning how AI works, we can understand it and keep pace with the times. We mustn’t end up being driven by AI; we have to be the ones in control of it,” he added.
