Studying at UMN is designed so that students not only understand theory but also apply it in real-world situations. Through the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Project-Based Learning (PBL) approaches, students work on projects, case studies, and simulations that reflect real-world professional challenges. This way, students become accustomed to thinking critically, solving problems, collaborating in teams, and developing skills needed by the industry from the very start of their studies.
In addition to in-class learning, UMN actively provides learning experiences alongside practitioners and industry professionals. Students gain insights into industry developments at national and international levels through guest lectures, seminars, and company collaborations.
Some of the implementations include:
- Guest lecture with Kamidia Radisti on public speaking strategies.
- Discussion with The New York Times on the future of the digital media industry.
Through these activities, students gain perspectives on challenges and the ever-evolving needs of the industry.
Various professional skills required in the workplace are also developed. This development is carried out through project-based learning, teamwork, presentations, and case-study analyses that develop communication, leadership, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Furthermore, UMN aligns its curriculum with industry needs through Curriculum Matching programs with various industry partners. Students also gain direct learning from practitioners through various activities with Skystar Ventures.
During their studies, students have the opportunity to build professional networks through various industry collaborations established by UMN. One example is the collaboration with Rosewood Hotel Hong Kong, which opens up opportunities for international collaboration.
Additionally, UMN consistently organizes Career and Scholarship Expos that feature dozens of companies across various industry sectors. This event provides opportunities for students to learn about companies, expand their professional networks, and access information about career opportunities.
Students are also supported by the Career Development Center (CDC), which offers a range of career-preparation programs before entering the workforce.
In addition to preparing students to become professionals in the industrial world, UMN also encourages the birth of young entrepreneurs through the entrepreneurial ecosystem developed on campus.
Through Skystar Ventures, students have the opportunity to develop business ideas, receive mentoring, build networks with industry professionals, and validate their business models. Thus, students are not only prepared to be job seekers but also to become job creators.
Preparation for the workforce is also carried out by expanding international networks. UMN continues to forge collaborations with various institutions, universities, and international organizations to expand opportunities for broader student cooperation.
Some of these include exploring collaborations with the Embassies of Italy and Ecuador in Indonesia. These collaborations are expected to create more opportunities for academic collaboration, knowledge exchange, and international experiences that support students’ readiness for the global workforce.
The study experience at UMN is designed to provide more than just academic knowledge. Students are accustomed to facing professional challenges through project-based learning, industry collaborations, professional skills development, network expansion, and learning experiences alongside practitioners and international partners.
With this approach, students are not only prepared to complete their studies but also equipped with experience, competencies, and relevant insights to face the professional world and build their careers after graduation.
