Parul University’s IVPP Program attended by Hendar. (Doc. Parul University)
India, (February 28, 2026) – Dr. Bonifacius Hendar Putranto, S.S., M.Hum., a lecturer at the Faculty of Communication Sciences (Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi/FIKOM) of Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN), represented Indonesia as the first lecturer to teach at Parul University through the International Visiting Professor Program (IVPP) for one month. This IVPP program was also attended by nine professors from various countries, including China, Germany, Jamaica, the USA, Russia, South Africa, Australia, and Vietnam, thereby creating a multinational academic environment that fosters intensive cross-cultural exchange of perspectives.
As a manifestation of UMN’s commitment to expanding its network and contributions on the global stage, participation in this international program is a strategic step toward strengthening cross-border academic exposure and collaboration.
“From the very beginning, I was indeed interested in participating in the IVPP program organized by the Center for International Relations and Research at Parul University under the guidance of Dr. Preeti Nair. The program itself is designed to provide greater exposure to both students and faculty at Parul University through international knowledge and perspectives, facilitated by the international experts in attendance,” Hendar explained.
Over the course of one month, comprising 21 lecture sessions, Hendar taught Intercultural Communication and Conflict Management to 30 MBA students from the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), in line with the academic curriculum and his field of expertise.

“Drawing from my expertise in Intercultural Communication and Communication Ethics, this interest is reinforced by the complexity of India’s history of intercultural conflicts, which have unfolded at various levels. In this context, I also integrated issues of gender conflict, given the high levels of violence against women in India—particularly since late 2012—as an effort to enrich students’ critical perspectives,” Hendar added.
Beyond classroom activities, Hendar also participated in research engagement discussions with faculty members from the MBA program in the Faculty of Management Studies and the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Parul University. This forum was used to disseminate research findings published in reputable international journals (Scopus-indexed) and to strengthen the International Research Network (IRN) to facilitate collaborative publications and cross-institutional research development between FIKOM UMN and Parul University.

“During my one-month participation in the IVPP, I encountered many new things I had never seen before. From visits to the Advanced Skills and Simulation Center and Parul Sevashram Hospital, which provided a concrete glimpse into professional education and training practices in the health sector, to how professional ethics are embedded within a multicultural societal context. Additionally, I gained a deeper understanding of Indian culture and the openness of its society toward diverse cultural backgrounds. This experience was further enriched through a meeting with the President of Parul University, Dr. Devanshu Patel, and the university’s leadership, who provided strategic perspectives on institutional management and the strengthening of international academic networks,” Hendar added.
Participation in the IVPP program marks a concrete step toward strengthening sustainable collaboration between UMN and Parul University, while also paving the way for the development of a broader International Research Network (IRN) through networking with professors from various countries. This initiative aims to collaborate on Scopus-indexed publications and to develop cross-institutional research in the fields of Intercultural Communication, Sustainability, Gender Mainstreaming, and Social Change.
