Tangerang—Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) has achieved a notable milestone in the 2025 SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR). In terms of overall performance, UMN ranked 72nd, underscoring the university’s growing competitiveness in the international ranking landscape.
Beyond its overall standing, UMN also demonstrated strong results in the innovation pillar. Based on the ranking summary presented, UMN is listed at 14th in the Innovation Rank and placed in Q1 (the top quartile) for innovation. This achievement highlights UMN’s consistent efforts to strengthen its innovation ecosystem—ranging from applied research development and downstreaming to collaboration with various partners to generate tangible impact.
Prof. Dr. Florentina Kurniasari T., S.Sos., M.B.A., as The Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Sustainability (RIS) at UMN emphasized that this achievement reflects the university’s strategic direction. “This achievement is aligned with UMN’s strategy, which focuses on sustainability and AI to advance toward a world-class university. This strategy includes building a research and innovation ecosystem that creates impact for society and industry, involving the active participation of students and faculty members, the entire UMN academic community, as well as external partners,” the Vice Rector said.
In the same vein, Dr. Nabila Husna Shabrina, S.T., M.T., as The Head of Research and Innovation at UMN noted that research and innovation planning is guided by measurable and relevant targets. “Our faculty research and innovation roadmap is designed to achieve key indicators related to the SDGs, while also helping address societal challenges through innovative works,” she explained.
From the perspective of scholarly outputs, Jansen Wiratama, S.Kom., M.Kom., as UMN’s Publications Manager stated that publication efforts are also designed to reinforce impact and relevance. “Publications produced by faculty in collaboration with students and external partners are aligned with our research roadmap and linked to the SDGs,” the manager said.
Moving forward, UMN aims to continuously strengthen research quality, innovation capacity, and cross-sector collaboration to ensure that its institutional achievements deliver broader and more meaningful impact for society, industry, and the advancement of knowledge.
The SCImago Institutions Rankings evaluate institutions across three key dimensions: Research, Innovation, and Societal. In addition to its societal performance, UMN recorded a Research percentile of 84th and an Innovation percentile of 73rd in SIR 2025. UMN views this recognition as momentum to further enhance research quality, accelerate innovation and knowledge transfer, and expand high-impact programs for communities and industry partners. Moving forward, UMN will continue to broaden cross-sector collaborations and strengthen the dissemination of institutional achievements to ensure broader and more tangible impact.
