UMN Holds Sharing Session on Smart Farming in Bandung Village
December 23, 2024Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) actively contributes to advancing clean energy and energy-efficient technologies through research, education, and community engagement. By sharing insights and collaborating with public stakeholders, UMN helps inform policy discussions and supports government efforts in shaping effective energy strategies. Several initiatives have been implemented to address this focus, see the full list here, which reflects our dedication to supporting Affordable and Clean Energy goals. Below are some selected activities that illustrate UMN’s efforts in this area.
Enhancing Regional Government Capacity in Energy Efficiency: Dr. Rahmi Andarini as Workshop Instructor (National Level)

(Documentation by IREEM, 2024)
As part of efforts to support the development of clean energy and energy-efficient technology policies, Dr. Rahmi Andarini, a lecturer in the Information Systems Study Program, served as a Workshop Instructor in the Region. This program was a collaborative initiative involving the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and the Institute for Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Management (IREEM).
The technical guidance aimed to enhance the knowledge and technical skills of government building managers in improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through the implementation of energy management practices within their respective institutions. This initiative also contributed to strengthening local capacities in supporting the transition toward a more sustainable and environmentally friendly energy system in the Sulawesi and Maluku regions. Collaborating with Government to Promote Energy Efficiency: UMN at the 2024 National Energy Efficiency Awards (National Level)

(Documentation by IREEM, 2024)
Dr. Rahmi Andarini also served as a jury member for the 2024 National Energy Efficiency Awards (PEEN) held in Bogor, alongside representatives from government agencies. Her role as a university juror highlights UMN’s contribution in supporting the government’s efforts to promote clean energy and energy-efficient technologies. By participating in this important event, UMN helps encourage the public and industries to adopt energy efficiency, conserve energy, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, reinforcing national policies aimed at building a more sustainable and low-carbon future. Strategic Collaboration Between UMN and Government to Support Digital Calibration and Energy Efficiency Policies (National Level)

(Documentation by BSN, 2024)
On August 22, 2024, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) formalized a strategic partnership with the Indonesian government agency Badan Standardisasi Nasional (BSN) and the Masyarakat Metrologi Indonesia (MMI) to develop digital calibration certificates. This collaboration aims to enhance the calibration certification system from Level 1 to Levels 2 and 3, enabling machine-readable data that significantly improves accuracy and traceability in metrology. By integrating advanced digital technologies, the initiative supports government efforts to improve measurement standards critical for the adoption and monitoring of clean energy and energy-efficient technologies—an essential component of Indonesia’s sustainable energy transition under the affordable and clean energy sector.
UMN’s active involvement, including contributions from faculty members across the Informatics, Information Systems, and Physics Engineering programs, reflects a strong academic-government partnership. Through developing innovative calibration systems and providing technical training, UMN supports BSN’s mandate to strengthen policy frameworks and technological infrastructure. This collaboration exemplifies how academic institutions can inform and support governmental policy development, fostering a data-driven approach to accelerate clean energy initiatives and promote energy efficiency nationwide. Fostering Global Collaboration: UMN and EU Dialogue on Energy Efficiency and Climate Adaptation (Global)

(UMN Doc., 2024)
As part of its commitment to advancing sustainable energy practices and fostering international collaboration, On November 2024 UMN hosted the “Sustainable Building and Green Energy Transition Seminar” in partnership with delegations from the European Union. The event welcomed key EU representatives, local experts, and academics to engage in a comprehensive dialogue on green infrastructure, renewable energy integration, and the global policy landscape driving the transition toward net-zero emissions. Discussions centered on practical strategies for implementing energy-efficient technologies in urban planning, the challenges of climate adaptation, and the role of education and public institutions in accelerating clean energy adoption. With insights drawn from EU sustainability frameworks and case studies on energy transition from across Europe, the seminar served as a platform to exchange knowledge and align academic, industrial, and governmental approaches to global energy challenges. By bridging local and international perspectives, UMN contributes meaningfully to the broader policy of discourse on sustainable development and energy transformation.
