Preview of UMN’s energy and environmental monitoring dashboard, 2024 (Doc. UMN)
As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) has taken a significant step by developing a comprehensive internal energy dashboard. This dashboard serves as a centralized platform to monitor and analyze key environmental metrics in real time, enabling the university to gain clear insights into its resource consumption patterns across the campus. By embracing this data-driven approach, UMN is laying out the groundwork for more informed decision-making and more effective management of its environmental footprint.
Currently, the dashboard tracks a range of important indicators including total electricity consumption, clean water usage, recycled water production, and the overall carbon footprint of campus activities. This holistic monitoring allows UMN not only to measure its current performance but also to identify specific areas where energy and resource wastage are highest. With these insights, the university can prioritize actions and investments that yield the greatest environmental benefits, ensuring a continuous improvement cycle in sustainability practices.
Although this monitoring system represents the first step in a long-term strategy, it is a critical foundation for UMN’s future energy management plans. By establishing this baseline, UMN can evaluate the effectiveness of its current policies and track progress toward energy efficiency goals more accurately. Moving forward, the university aims to enhance the dashboard’s capabilities and expand its use to guide renovations, new constructions, and everyday operations, reinforcing its role as a leader in sustainable campus development.
