Used and recycled water throughout 2024 at UMN (Doc. UMN)
Tangerang – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) has recorded a remarkable increase in water recycling on campus. This year, UMN successfully recycled 19,299 cubic meters of water out of its total 28,459 cubic meters of usage—equivalent to nearly 68%. This achievement shows a significant jump from 2023 milestone of almost 45%.
Far from being wasted, this recycled water sustains vital functions on campus: flushing restrooms, irrigating green spaces through sprinklers, and cooling buildings via the AC system. Each drop contributes to a greener, more efficient UMN.
The sharp increase reflects UMN’s continued effort to improve its water management system and commitment to sustainability. By maximizing recycling, the campus not only reduces its dependence on freshwater supplies but also ensures responsible, future-oriented operations.
Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), this progress highlights UMN’s determination to set a strong example of sustainable practices among higher education institutions in Indonesia.
Recycling nearly 68% of our water consumption is a major step toward reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices throughout our campus. As we continue to improve our water management systems, UMN is not only lowering its resource footprint but also setting an example for responsible water use in educational institutions. Through these efforts, we’re paving the way for a greener future, supporting both campus efficiency and environmental health.
