Tangerang—Universitas Multimedia Nusantara held the 2025 Banten Young Researchers Competition. The event was held on September 24 and 25, 2025, at Multimedia Nusantara University, with 142 participants. This year, 77 research titles participated.
The Young Researchers Competition (LPB) is an annual event organized by the Center for Young Scientists. As in previous years, the UMN Faculty of Engineering and Informatics supported this year’s LPB event. In addition to encouraging students to continue to be innovative, this activity is also a priority for UMN in supporting quality education in Indonesia for all ages.
“Since 2022, the number of research titles and participants has continued to grow, which is a good thing and encourages various young generations to think critically and analytically. This activity is also a concrete step by the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics to support sustainability, especially in the field of education, and through this activity, it is hoped that knowledge related to sustainability can be imparted,” said Dr. Eng. Niki Prastomo, S.T., M.Sc., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics at UMN, at the opening of the 2025 UMN Banten LPB event.
Niki emphasized that this event is not just a competition but a conference, and a valuable opportunity for students to collaborate and share new knowledge. For Niki, LPB is not just a competition but also prepares students to explore their best ideas, so that later they can represent Banten in the National LPB.
“This event is not just a competition, but you also get the experience of sharing, discussing, and exchanging experiences. More than that, you can also absorb and gain knowledge and new friends. In this event, there are no winners or losers; you are all conducting research to advance the nation,” said Dr. dr. Tri Edhi Budhi Soesilo as Chair of the LPB Steering Committee.
Edhi hopes that this activity will continue to grow in the future, and that more students will conduct research because, for Edhi, the world of science will never die and will continue to develop. Edhi also emphasized that research should not just be done passively, but should be implemented in the future.
“This activity is a tangible manifestation of UMN’s commitment to education. We are very happy to be able to support and encourage the younger generation. I hope that these works will have an impact in the future. UMN also provides support for works that can be curated and provides support so that these research works can be disseminated and published both nationally and internationally, can be recognized by many people, and researchers can obtain copyright,” said Prof. Dr. Florentina Kurniasari T., S.Sos., M.B.A., as Vice Rector for Research, Innovation and Sustainability.
For Sari, this activity serves as a workshop for current issues, especially regarding sustainability, one of the topics that is currently being promoted. Sari advised participants not to be afraid of failure and that for her, failure is not the end but the first step to something better.
The implementation of LPB Banten UMN 2025 was supported by Himfera UMN and Multimedia Nusantara Polytechnic (MNP) and sponsored by Tetra Pak, Telkom Indonesia, and Jaya Indo Mandiri. This activity was held for two days and was divided into 7 research topics, including Economics, Physics, Life Sciences, Computers, Environment, Mathematics, and Sociology. In addition to the research competition, this event also held a poster competition in each field. Participants who won (1st to 2nd runner-up) in the 2025 Banten UMN LPB will advance to the 2025 National LPB in December 2025.
