Jakarta – On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) visited Burson Indonesia. This industry visit aimed to provide updates on UMN programs that Burson Indonesia can participate in and strengthen the relationship between UMN and the industry. The visit was attended by UMN’s Career Development Center and Sustainability Center.
Burson Indonesia is a global company under the WPP umbrella, resulting from the merger between Burson-Marsteller and Cohn & Wolfe in 2018. Burson Indonesia is a company that specializes in public relations and other communication services, such as strategic consumer and brand, corporate and public affairs, creative and content, and more.
“This is a great opportunity for UMN as UMN has a Faculty of Communication Sciences, which presents a promising collaboration opportunity for the future. UMN will explore various two-way collaboration opportunities with Burson Indonesia– aiming to enhance the employability rate of UMN students and foster further collaborations with Burson Indonesia,” Elfira F. Wahyono, M.Si, Manager of the UMN Career Development Center, said.
Elfira has already initiated various collaborations with Burson Indonesia, such as curriculum matching, career days, campus hiring, guest lectures, and more. This is because UMN cannot ignore the evolving needs of the industry as a higher education institution. Elfira is also open to Burson Indonesia joining the sustainability program to be implemented at UMN and providing a platform to involve Burson Indonesia.
“We are delighted to collaborate with UMN. There are many areas where collaboration is possible, especially in the field of sustainability, which we are quite aware of and need a platform to involve Burson Indonesia employees in this program. We are pleased to be allowed to join the sustainability program at UMN,” Sofrida Saraswati, People & Culture at Burson, said.
Sofrida also suggested several collaboration ideas, such as inviting Burson Indonesia employees who had previously studied at UMN to give guest lectures, allowing them to share their knowledge with students. For Sofrida, this is important as it opens up more opportunities for students to join Burson Indonesia.
“Another collaboration that can be done is a company visit, so that UMN students can learn directly and see how the industry operates. In the future, UMN students can learn directly at Burson Indonesia and take short courses, so they can gain a better understanding and deeper knowledge,” Sofrida added.
