Tangerang – On Monday (August 25, 2025), Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) welcomed a visit from the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R), one of UMN’s partner universities. This visit also marked the inauguration of the collaboration between UMN and UNO-R, focusing on joint research collaborations and other forms of collaboration.
As part of UMN’s commitment to becoming a world-class university, UMN continues to explore various collaborations with other universities. This time, UMN and UNO-R had the opportunity to discuss research collaboration and other collaborations involving four faculties at UMN.
“We continue collaborating with international universities, which is part of UMN’s commitment to internationalization. We can collaborate on many things, and we are open to various collaborations. Through this collaboration, we can both grow globally,” Dr. Ir. Andrey Andoko, M.Sc., UMN Rector, said.
Andrey hopes this collaboration will produce new things and focus on two main topics: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Sustainability. In addition, the partnership is expected to support UMN’s focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and align with UNO-R.
“This collaboration is not just a formality to implement the Memorandum of Agreement, but also to strengthen the future collaboration and relationship between UMN and UNO-R. There will certainly be many collaborative initiatives, not only with the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, but we are also open to other faculties at UMN,” Rev. Fr. Joel A. Alve, OAR., the University President of UNO-R, said
Fr. Joel also hopes this collaboration will build a sustainable future and develop many things. For Joel, this collaboration not only forms a dynamic collaboration but also forms a global community for the future of education. The meeting between UMN and UNO-R was followed by a discussion on possible collaborations, attended by the vice rector for internationalization and the vice rector for research, innovation, and sustainability.
“We are open to joint-degree collaborations, student exchange programs such as student mobility, student exchanges with Skystar Venture for students interested in building businesses, or student exchanges for one semester. We are also open to research collaborations that can be carried out with faculties at UMN by adjusting the topics from both parties,” Prof. Dr. Friska Natalia, S.Kom., M.T., Vice Rector for Academic and Internationalization Affairs, said.
Friska herself has also initiated other collaborations that can be carried out together, including visiting professors, lecture exchanges, and international competition collaborations between the two countries, with a focus on hackathons. Hopefully, these collaborations can be realized and carried out together, strengthening the relationship between UMN and UNO-R.
“Regarding research collaboration, we are opening up a fairly broad scope of research. From this research collaboration, we can collect data together and publish it together. We hope that we can map the fields and lecturers at UMN so that this research can run smoothly,” Prof. Dr. Florentina Kurniasari T., S.Sos., M.B.A., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Sustainability, said
Sari also initiated other collaboration ideas, such as sharing sessions with experts in AI and sustainability, considering that UMN has already conducted numerous collaborations in both fields.
The visit continued on Tuesday (08/26/2025), with UMN and UNO-R holding a sharing session on possible research collaborations. Representatives from the Faculty of Communication Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, the Faculty of Arts and Design, and the Faculty of Management attended the session.
