Jakarta, Friday (06/13/2025) – UMN is partnering with Angel Group to expand clean water in Indonesia. As an environmentally friendly campus, UMN is participating and becoming one of Angel Group’s university partners. This collaboration will support UMN’s various sustainability initiatives.
Previously, UMN and Angel Group had already held discussions on collaboration. These discussions were not only about collaboration between UMN and Angel Group, but also positively impacted the environment and water sanitation. As part of UMN’s sustainability efforts, this collaboration presents a valuable opportunity for the academic community at UMN, the environment, and society.
“Previously, UMN had already taken many steps toward sustainability, particularly in water recycling. Angel Group, a company that manufactures water purification equipment, will collaborate to provide a potable water purification system. In the future, students can bring their own tumblers, and UMN will provide free drinking water,” Dr. Andrey Andoko, UMN Rector, said.
Andrey also stated that providing drinking water is crucial to UMN’s efforts to reduce plastic bottle usage and ensure access to drinking water. This collaboration aligns with the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and supports the UI GreenMetric indicators.
“I hope students and faculty can participate and assist in this brand campaign, and also contribute to reducing plastic usage. I also hope that this collaboration can be expanded for research and to support UMN’s community service programs focused on sustainability through community economic empowerment,” Andrey added.
Kong Na, Chairman & President of Angel Group, noted that the potential and need for clean water in Indonesia are significant, so this collaboration is not only for market expansion but also to meet Indonesia’s needs. Quoting Kong Na’s statement published in Kompas.com (June 12, 2025), the company considers this collaboration highly strategic.
“We see that the market share is still quite good. Indonesia has a large population, and the public’s demand and expectations for clean water are high, so we see this as promising for the future,” Kong Na said.
