Cipeuteuy Village, Sukagalih Village, November 9, 2025 – Sukagalih Village continues to demonstrate its commitment to developing local potential, particularly herbal plants that have long grown naturally and become part of community life. Building on this potential, Cindy Aurellia Liwang, a Communication Science student at Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), initiated a training activity titled 3T: Plant, Grow, Harvest, involving the Melati Women Farmers Group (Kelompok Wanita Tani/KWT) as the main participants. The training was attended by 26 KWT members and led by Yanto Iwan, an ecotourism guide at Sukagalih and an experienced herbal practitioner with over 15 years of expertise in herbal plant education. During the training, participants received interactive, easy-to-understand explanations of herbal plant identification, planting techniques, maintenance, and the use of herbs for daily needs.
One of the essential sessions in this training was a discussion of the book Lestari Herbal Urang Desa, which covers the history, benefits, and processing methods of the herbal plants found around Kampung Sukagalih. Students of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara compiled this book as part of an effort to document the local knowledge. Through this session, participants were invited to rediscover the wealth of local knowledge about traditional medicine and herbs that has been passed down from generation to generation.
After that, participants received a comprehensive explanation of basic planting techniques, including the appropriate planting medium, light requirements, and how to care for herbal plants to ensure healthy, optimal growth.

To enhance the learning experience, participants were invited to a herbal tasting session, where they tried several prepared herbal concoctions and guessed the herbal ingredients used. This approach made participants more sensitive to the distinctive characteristics of each plant, from aroma to taste. This activity was also the most popular among participants, as it felt familiar and enjoyable and offered new insights into the potential of herbal processing.
Piah, Chairwoman of KWT Melati, expressed her enthusiasm for the activity. “This training empowers us women. We now know how to process herbs ourselves and utilize what is already available around us,” she said.
As a follow-up, on November 15, 2025, a joint planting activity was held as part of the One Day Tour: Halimun Eco Track. Visitors were invited to learn about and plant herbal seedlings directly. This activity was guided by 13 members of KWT Sukagalih, who actively helped explain the types of herbal plants to the tour participants.

KWT’s participation in guiding the planting activity demonstrates the group’s increased capacity and independence in developing the herbal potential in Sukagalih village. The activity ran smoothly, was enthusiastically welcomed by tour participants, and provided an educational experience that strengthened the relationship between the local community and visitors.
Through this activity, the development of herbal potential in Sukagalih Village is expected to be a strategic step toward expanding the role of women’s groups in Sukagalih Village, preserving local identity, and creating sustainable economic opportunities.
