Tangerang, (12/18/2025) – A total of 10 students from KUMA, South Korea (Korea University Media of Arts) and Novosibirsk State Academy of Architecture and Fine , Russia (NSUADA) have participated in an exchange program at UMN for four months. During the exchange program, the students were enrolled in the Faculty of Arts and Design, as well as the Journalism study program.
As a concrete step in implementing global university collaboration, UMN has participated in various existing programs. This time, UMN conducted a student exchange with KUMA and NSUADA. At the closing of the student exchange program, 10 students shared their new experiences that they had gained at UMN. The Rector of UMN, Dr. Andrey Andoko, was also present at the closing of the student exchange program.
“It was heartwarming to hear the positive experiences of the exchange students, who not only made new friends but also gained new knowledge and experiences that they had never learned before. Through this activity, students can explore new interests that they themselves did not expect to enjoy, which is also a good thing for UMN to continue to improve learning,” Andrey said.
In addition to new experiences and learning, Andrey was also pleased to hear that the students had learned about various Indonesian cultures. This will undoubtedly be a memorable experience in their academic journey.
“I hope that what you have gained at UMN will serve as good preparation, and that the relationship between UMN and you will not end here but will continue. It is also hoped that students can share their interesting experiences with other students, so that they can join the student exchange program at UMN,” Andrey added.

“During my time at UMN, I received a lot of support and assistance from my friends, the UMN International Office, and the UMN lecturers. Considering that I am far from home, this made me feel comfortable doing an exchange program at UMN,” said Kian Kim, one of the KUMA students who participated in the exchange program at UMN.
Kian also shared his memorable learning experience at UMN, starting from the slow but sure learning process. He was also given plenty of time to study and explore the material. Min-gu Kang, another KUMA student, shared a similar sentiment.
“During the exchange program, I not only learned in the classroom but also gained various lessons outside of class. I was also involved in various organizations at UMN, including UMN ECO, Unify, Maxima, and various other activities that were very valuable to me and provided me with a lot of new knowledge,” Min-gu said.
Min-gu himself was impressed and enjoyed the Sound Design course, which provided him with knowledge related to music and music production. Min-gu gained new knowledge that he never expected to enjoy and explore.
“Outside of academics, I really enjoyed my time in Indonesia. I made many new friends who were fun and kind. I also learned about new cultures in Indonesia, such as ‘nongkrong’ (hanging out) and trying various new foods. This experience was very valuable to me, because I certainly cannot have it again,” he added.
Zakhar Vasuynin, a student from NSUADA, Russia, also shared his experience during his exchange program at UMN. Zakhar found similarities and significant differences from his previous learning experiences.
“Physically, the UMN campus is very large and spacious. In addition, in completing our final assignments, we were really involved in an exhibition of final projects, which I think is very good, so that the work is not only viewed digitally,” Zakhar said.
Zakhar also stated that he learned many new things through his courses at UMN. Zakhar said that this exchange program was one of the most memorable experiences of his studies.
“The new values I gained are also valuable. Seeing that we all come from different backgrounds, yet our desires, fears, and the challenges we face are the same—this is an important lesson in realizing that we are not alone,” Zakhar added.
