Serpong, July 8, 2025 – The Multimedia Nusantara Foundation’s (Yayasan Multimedia Nusantara/YMN) dedication to education is inseparable from the roles of two prominent figures in Indonesian journalism, Jakob Oetama and P.K. Ojong. These two central figures were instrumental in the establishment of Kompas Gramedia, Indonesia’s largest media conglomerate, which has made significant contributions to the nation’s intellectual development. Known as visionary figures, both upheld the values of humanity and education.
This vision to enlighten the nation served as the primary Foundation for the establishment of the Multimedia Nusantara Foundation. In 2005, through YMN, the founders of Kompas Gramedia pioneered the establishment of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) as a tangible manifestation of this commitment.
The Multimedia Nusantara Foundation continues this commitment to expand its reach in the field of education through the establishment of a technology-based school named Multimedia Nusantara School (MNS). The presence of MNS marks a new historical milestone and a visionary step in the development of education in Indonesia, particularly in the fields of technology and creativity.
Multimedia Nusantara School (MNS), a technology-based school under the Kompas Gramedia Group, officially opened its new building today in the Gading Serpong area of Tangerang. This inauguration symbolizes MNS’s commitment to providing quality education with a global perspective, yet still rooted in Indonesian values and culture.
Sustainable Education for Future Generations
In his remarks, Teddy Surianto, Chairman of the Multimedia Nusantara Foundation, emphasized that MNS’s presence is part of the Foundation’s commitment to building a sustainable education ecosystem, from early childhood to higher education.

“MNS is the tangible manifestation of the Multimedia Nusantara Foundation’s vision to contribute to the intellectual development of the nation. Its presence complements the educational journey pioneered by the founders of Kompas Gramedia, P.K. Ojong and Jakob Oetama. Starting with the establishment of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) and Multimedia Nusantara Polytechnic (MNP). We believe that character-based, relevant, and sustainable education is the key to preparing the next generation of outstanding, innovative, and impactful leaders, toward Indonesia’s Golden Age in 2045,” Teddy Surianto said.
Meanwhile, Lilik Oetama, CEO of Kompas Gramedia, emphasized that MNS is part of Kompas Gramedia’s commitment to providing educational solutions that are not only adaptive to the times but also drive digital transformation in the world of education.

“MNS is not just a school; it is a reflection of Kompas Gramedia’s commitment to building a technology and innovation-based learning ecosystem. We aim to equip the younger generation with global perspectives, strong character, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Our hope is that they grow into individuals who are not only intelligent but also capable of becoming agents of change at both the local and global levels,” Lilik said.
MNS Facilities and Curriculum: Integrating Technology, Character, and Life Skills
The MNS building adopts an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient design, created to provide a comfortable and healthy learning environment for students. The design maximizes natural lighting and optimal air circulation.
Various facilities are available at the MNS building, including the Digital Immersive Room, which is one example of technology integration in the learning process. This facility enables students to explore teaching materials in an interactive and immersive manner. Other facilities provided to support the development of sustainable life skills include the MNS Green Farm and Mini Kitchen, which are part of the Sustainability Life Skill Development (SLSD) program.
MNS Principal Theresia Listiyawati explained that all facilities and programs are designed to support a comprehensive curriculum aligned with children’s developmental needs.

“For the preschool level, we implement the Creative Curriculum with the development of six areas: Social-Emotional, Cognitive, Physical, Sensory & Motoric, Language, and Aesthetic Development. Meanwhile, for the primary level, we combine the national and international Pearson Edexcel curricula, enriched with the MNS technology-based approach. Technology is an integral part of daily learning that is contextual and relevant,” she explained.
Beyond academic enrichment, MNS is committed to maximizing the potential and talents of every student through various MNS Club programs, such as programming, sports, music, dance, and choir.
Parental Trust as the Foundation
To date, around 300 parents have entrusted their children’s education to MNS. One of them is Jessica Suhandra, an alumnus of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) and a parent of an MNS student.
“I have witnessed how Kompas Gramedia has made its mark in the world of education. I am an alumnus of UMN, and now my child is studying at MNS. My trust has grown because I have personally experienced the quality of education at UMN. I want my child to have the same learning experience, with strong values and guaranteed quality. Kompas Gramedia has proven to be a trusted brand in the world of education,” she said
As part of the Kompas Gramedia family, MNS is committed to providing high-quality, relevant education. With modern facilities, an excellent curriculum, and competent educators, MNS is dedicated to nurturing the next generation, one that is not only intelligent but also character-driven and ready to face global challenges.
