Creating an inclusive and equitable campus environment requires more than just good intentions; it requires clear structures, dedicated roles, and ongoing initiatives. At Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), this is addressed through a formal structure that includes the Diversity and Equality Committee, supported by the Human Resource Development Bureau. Within this structure, the Operational HR Section (Legal) is responsible for implementing policies related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and human rights (DEI-HR), while the HR Development Section oversees programs and training to promote these values. Importantly, the designation of the Human Resource Development as the body tasked with these responsibilities is officially outlined in the Ethical Guidance for UMN’s Staff, reflecting a deliberate and institutionalized approach to fostering a respectful and inclusive academic community.
With this clearly defined mandate and division of responsibilities, UMN ensures that DEI-HR principles are embedded in campus life through actionable programs, policy enforcement, and capacity building. The Human Resource Development Bureau not only coordinates efforts across departments but also leads initiatives that promote a sense of belonging and equitable access for all members of the university. By aligning its efforts with ethical guidelines and formal decisions stated in university policy, UMN demonstrates a structured and strategic commitment to ensuring all individuals, regardless of background or identity, can thrive in a supportive academic environment.
