Indonesia Digital 2025 Declaration. (Doc. DQLab)
DQLab UMN Supports the Government in Realizing a Safe, Equitable, and Ethical AI Ecosystem. On December 10, 2025, the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology held an important event titled “Indonesia Digital Direction Declaration: Connected, Growing, Protected”. The event was attended by the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Meutya Hafid, who emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening comprehensive digital transformation, encompassing public protection regulations and infrastructure development, as well as the development of a digital talent and artificial intelligence ecosystem.
During this event, the government also announced strategic steps to protect children on social media through the issuance of Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025, as well as a major target to provide internet access to 100% of villages by 2026.
Among the various national institutions in attendance, DQLab was the only Data Science & AI learning platform invited. The presence of DQLab, as part of Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN), underscores the education sector’s collaborative commitment in strengthening the nation’s digital capacity in line with the declaration’s theme: Connected, Growing & Protected.
Connected: Digital Infrastructure as the Foundation for the Future
“Disasters are entering the connectivity of digital infrastructure to improve public services and people’s welfare, and technologies such as AI are the key,” Meutya Hafid concluded.
This statement emphasizes that connectivity is not just a facility but the main foundation for improving the quality of state services. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based technology is now the primary catalyst. In line with this, DQLab and UMN are committed to supporting the “Connected” vision by providing educational programs that make it easier for the public to access AI, Data Science, Machine Learning, and digital literacy skills. Its mission is to level the playing field in digital competence in Indonesia, expand access to learning, and open opportunities for digital talent from across regions.
Grow: Strengthening Digital Talent & AI Ethics
“A reliable digital government requires SMEs to upgrade and digital talent to grow. The development of AI Ethics is 90% complete and will soon be signed by the President as a top priority. AI ethics must accompany the sharpness of AI,” Meutya Hafid stated.
With the national AI ethics regulations nearly complete, the government emphasizes that technological growth must go hand in hand with security, transparency, and ethical responsibility. In line with this direction, UMN, through various publications and official programs, emphasizes the importance of building a culture of ethical, responsible, and integrity-oriented AI use. UMN consistently conveys that AI learning should not only focus on technical skills but also cultivate an academic character that is honest, critical, and wise in the use of technology.
This commitment is reinforced through initiatives such as the DQLab–UMN AI Training Center and various talent development programs, including the GenAI & n8n Bootcamp for AI Workflow Automation, which equips participants to build AI agents, automate workflows, and understand safe and ethical AI practices. With this approach, UMN and DQLab place ethical AI development and digital literacy as an essential part of the pillars of digital education sustainability in Indonesia.
Protected: Strengthening Digital Security & Community Protection
In the President’s message delivered by the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, the point “Protected” became a serious concern, especially regarding increasing community data protection, handling digital crime, and protecting children in the digital space.
With the enactment of Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025, the government has provided a new legal framework to protect children from exposure to negative content and the risks of unhealthy digital interactions. The public, industry, and educational institutions are encouraged to collaborate in creating a safe and responsible digital ecosystem.
Together, Let’s Realize an Advanced and Secure Digital Indonesia
The Connected – Growing – Secure Declaration is not only the government’s vision but also a call for national collaboration. Through strengthening digital infrastructure, increasing ethical AI talent, and protecting the public from digital risks, Indonesia continues to move towards an inclusive, secure, and competitive future.
DQLab and UMN, as institutions selected to participate in this declaration, affirm their commitment to fully supporting the government’s agenda in expanding AI competencies, strengthening digital literacy, and building an educational ecosystem relevant to future needs.
