Hedista was born and raised in Jakarta. After graduating from Tarumanagara University (majoring in architecture) in 2015, she worked as an architect at Studio Arsitektropis. While practising architecture in the firm, she was eager to learn more and to share her love for architecture. So, in early 2016, she signed up at her alma mater as a part-time lecturer assistant as she decided to pursue her passion in academic career. She was also actively involved in diverse research, books, and publications about architecture and planning—while conducting several residential and commercial design projects.
Aside from education and pedagogy, her main interest in architecture was about sustainable design that is not always necessarily hi-tech but tends to be respectful to its context and community. In 2020, she got her master’s degree in Architecture and Sustainability at Universitas Indonesia. Soon after, in 2021, she joined the architecture department at UMN as a full-time academician.
