UMN ECO is a student-led society at the University of Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental responsibility. While focusing on protecting ecosystems, natural resources, and biodiversity, UMN ECO also actively encourages environmental awareness and action around the UMN campus. With a strong commitment to creating a sustainable, caring, and responsible approach, UMN ECO aims to safeguard the planet for both current and future generations, while inspiring students to take action in their own community.
Mission:
To establish UMN ECO as a pioneer of environmental awareness among students through concrete actions in preserving the Earth, while actively safeguarding ecosystem sustainability for a better future.
Vision:
To realize a high level of environmental awareness among students through tangible actions in Earth conservation, by implementing practical approaches and sustainable activities that create long-term impact.
In the first half of 2025, UMN ECO has demonstrated a cohesive and integrated approach to sustainability through a series of structured environmental programs. By combining education, community participation, and real-world action, UMN ECO seeks to strengthen environmental awareness and promote long-term ecological responsibility among students. These initiatives reflect the university’s broader commitment to embedding sustainability into campus culture and student engagement.
Aligned with its vision and mission, UMN ECO actively promotes its programs through digital platforms, primarily Instagram and the UMN ECO website. These platforms function as strategic communication channels to disseminate information on environmental initiatives, encourage participation from ECO Friends, and raise awareness of sustainability and environmental protection. Through consistent digital outreach, UMN ECO expands its impact, fosters meaningful engagement, and cultivates a student community committed to environmental stewardship.

Program Implementation Overview
UMN ECO continues to inspire action through a series of sustainability-driven initiatives conducted in the first half until the end of 2025. These programs reflect UMN ECO’s commitment to fostering environmental awareness through education, community engagement, and concrete conservation efforts.
1,KAILANI CALLS: RESTORE THE SEA

(Doc. UMN ECO)
Kailani Calls: Restore the Sea was designed to address the growing issue of marine pollution and its impact on aquatic ecosystems. This initiative aimed not only to raise environmental awareness among UMN students but also to encourage active participation in restoring marine environments.
Through hands-on Eco Enzyme production, participants learned how everyday organic waste can be transformed into environmentally friendly solutions. This activity emphasized that sustainable change can begin with small, practical actions that collectively contribute to healthier and more resilient waters. Read the article here.
2. RITE OF NANEA: BRING BACK THE HARMONY

(Doc. UMN ECO)
The Rite of Nanea Pre-Event served as an engaging platform to introduce the core values of UMN ECO 2025. The program encouraged ECO Friends to take part in environmental conservation through donation-based initiatives and interactive marine-themed games.
This activity successfully combined education and entertainment, reinforcing the importance of ecosystem balance while fostering a sense of collective responsibility toward environmental preservation.
3. SET SAIL TO AROHA ISLAND

(Doc. UMN ECO)
Set Sail to Aroha Island was an experiential learning program that provided participants with direct exposure to marine conservation efforts. In collaboration with Seagrass Indonesia, UMN ECO conducted activities on Pari Island focused on understanding and protecting coastal ecosystems.
Through seagrass-related initiatives and environmental exploration, participants gained practical insights into marine conservation, highlighting how small-scale actions—such as planting a single seagrass seed—can generate long-term ecological benefits.
4. MAIMITI ISLAND: WHERE THE SEA BECKONS US

(Doc. UMN ECO)
Derived from the Tahitian word meaning “coming from the sea,” Maimiti represents UMN ECO’s overarching theme in 2025. This initiative emphasized the ocean as both a source of life and a reflection of human responsibility toward the Earth.
The Maimiti Island Exhibition documented and showcased UMN ECO’s 2025 journey, connecting earlier initiatives from Kailani Calls to the broader narrative of environmental stewardship. The exhibition highlighted how interconnected actions—from marine conservation to land-based awareness— contribute to sustainable impact.
