Equal access to education at UMN (UMN Doc.)
Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) is strongly committed to the principles of inclusivity and fairness in its new student admission process. This commitment is embodied in the Student Admission Decree, which affirms that UMN conducts a non-discriminatory selection process while also providing positive discrimination policies to support socially, economically, or geographically disadvantaged groups.
1.Non-Discriminatory Admission Policy
UMN ensures that the entire admission process treats all applicants equally, regardless of:
- Ethnicity
- Religion
- Race
- Inter-group relations (SARA)
- Gender
- Social status
- Political affiliation
Applicants who meet the academic and administrative requirements set by their chosen study programs have equal opportunities to be admitted to UMN.
2. Positive Discrimination for Potential Students from Underprivileged Backgrounds
As an active form of inclusivity, UMN applies positive discrimination policies to provide access to higher education for groups that have limited opportunities, including:
a. Students with High Academic Potential but Limited Economic Means
UMN offers various scholarship programs for academically outstanding candidates facing financial challenges, ensuring education access without financial barriers.
b. Applicants with Physical Disabilities
UMN does not discriminate against applicants with physical disabilities. Eligible candidates who meet academic standards are accepted, with additional steps including:
- Psychotests
- Interviews with representatives from relevant study programs
3. Geographical Equity in Admissions
UMN embraces the spirit of “Nusantara” by opening admission opportunities across all provinces in Indonesia. The nationwide selection reflects a commitment to unity in diversity and equitable human resource development throughout Indonesia.
4. Special Quotas for Government Affirmation Programs
UMN actively participates in government programs, such as the Higher Education Affirmation Scholarship (ADik), targeting students from:
- 3T areas (Underdeveloped, Frontier, and Outermost regions)
- Indigenous Papuans (OAP)
- Persons with disabilities
- Children of Indonesian migrant workers (TKI)
- Socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds
By providing special quotas for these affirmation recipients, UMN supports truly inclusive and equitable higher education.
To support the sustainability of an inclusive and dignified educational environment, UMN also enforces a comprehensive Anti-Harassment and Anti-Discrimination Policy across its campus. This policy aims to create a safe, respectful learning space free from any form of harassment, bullying, and discrimination based on gender, background, or individual conditions.
Through these comprehensive policies, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara not only commits to a fair and equitable student admission process but also ensures that all students can thrive and learn in a safe, inclusive environment that fosters long-term academic success.
