September 11, 2024As a higher education institution that upholds the values of diversity and inclusivity, Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) actively takes strategic steps to recruit students, staff, and faculty from underrepresented groups. UMN believes that an inclusive academic environment not only enriches the learning experience but also fosters a stronger and more empathetic community. With this vision, UMN continues to open its doors to students from various backgrounds, including those from Indonesia’s frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged (3T) regions.

In line with its commitment to expanding access to higher education, UMN supports the Government of Indonesia’s Higher Education Affirmation Scholarship (ADik) program, which provides opportunities for students from Papua, West Papua, and underdeveloped (3T) regions. In 2024, UMN accepted four students under this ADik scheme across various study programs. In addition to ADik, several other students from similar backgrounds have been granted scholarships through the KIP Kuliah program. This initiative also aims to support students from underrepresented and disadvantaged communities by covering tuition and living expenses throughout their studies. UMN also provides dedicated services for minority students as part of its inclusive campus facilities.
These efforts align with UMN’s official Inclusivity Policy, as outlined in the Rector’s Decree on Inclusivity view the decree here. The policy underlines UMN’s institutional commitment to creating a welcoming, equitable, and supportive environment for all. As a strategic step toward to reach under-represented groups and expand access to higher education across the region, UMN welcomed the visit of the Minister of Education, Science, and Culture of Timor-Leste. This diplomatic and educational engagement reflects a strategic step in building cross-border academic collaboration and inclusion. Following the visit, UMN is also preparing targeted outreach and marketing efforts in Timor-Leste to promote access and opportunities for students from this neighboring country.
