Tangerang, September 3, 2025 — Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) reinforced its role as a strategic partner in regional development by actively participating in the 2025 Tangerang Regency SDGs Seminar organized by the Tangerang Regency Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) together with multi-stakeholder partners. This forum served as an important platform to synergize the roles of the government, academics, the business world, the media, and civil society in accelerating the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) locally.
During the forum, Prof. Dr. Florentina Kurniasari, UMN Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Sustainability, presented a paper titled “Universitas Multimedia Nusantara’s Best Practices in Integrating Education, Research, and Community Service to Promote SDG-based Sustainable Development.” She emphasized that UMN builds all academic, operational, research, and community service activities based on the CORE (Curriculum, Operations, Research, Engagement) framework, oriented towards sustainability.
“UMN’s CORE ensures that sustainability does not stop at the conceptual level, but is truly present in the learning process, in campus operational practices, in research results and scientific publications, as well as in the form of community service programs that have a real impact on society,” Prof. Florentina said.

As a university located in Tangerang Regency, UMN affirms its commitment to the surrounding community through various Community Service (PKM) programs. Over the past few years, UMN has carried out multiple initiatives that are also in line with Bappeda’s agenda for regional development, including a Culinary Week and digital promotion with UMKM Pokdarwis Medang, digital transformation assistance for MSMEs in Panongan, and a campaign to prevent sexual violence in schools.
In Legok Village, UMN lecturers and students provided energy management training for culinary MSMEs to be more efficient and sustainable. Meanwhile, at BUMDes Serdang Tirta Kencana, UMN encouraged circular entrepreneurship by managing organic waste into value-added products and developing vegetable gardens.

Through a pentahelix approach, UMN also ensures that the SDGs are implemented according to the local context while contributing to the national and global development agenda.
UMN’s commitment to sustainability has also gained international recognition. In 2024, UMN was ranked 128th in the world in UI GreenMetric and became the most sustainable private campus in the Greater Jakarta area. The following year, UMN entered the 801–1000 range of the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking, with significant achievements in SDG 6 on clean water and sanitation and SDG 12 on sustainable consumption and production, where UMN ranked 201–300 globally.

It demonstrated UMN’s commitment to supporting Tangerang Regency’s sustainability agenda.
UMN’s presence at the 2025 Tangerang Regency SDGs Seminar reaffirmed the university’s position not only as an educational institution but also as a catalyst for sustainability. With CORE as its strategic framework, UMN strives to produce graduates who care about sustainability, strengthen community capacity, and build cross-sector collaboration. UMN continues to expand its impact to the national and global levels from Tangerang while supporting Bappeda’s agenda to realize a competitive, inclusive, and sustainable Tangerang Regency.
