Tangerang, March 2025 – Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) has established the Center for Sustainability, a coordination and development hub aimed at strengthening the integration of sustainability principles across all aspects of campus life, both academically and operationally.
The establishment of the Center for Sustainability is not a starting point but a continuation of UMN’s long-term commitment to promoting sustainability. Over the years, UMN has implemented various initiatives, ranging from energy-efficient building design, waste management, student involvement in social projects, to research addressing the challenges of climate change and sustainable development.
The Center for Sustainability is coordinated by the Research, Innovation, and Sustainability Division, led by Prof. Dr. Florentina Kurniasari as Vice Rector. This center serves as a concrete form to orchestrate all sustainability efforts within a more systematic and measurable framework while strengthening UMN’s position as a future-oriented campus concerned with environmental, social, and economic issues.
“UMN has been on the sustainability path for a long time. With the establishment of the Center for Sustainability, we are not starting from scratch, but rather uniting, strengthening, and accelerating all existing initiatives. This center is tasked with bridging the three pillars of higher education with concrete sustainability actions, both within the campus and in collaboration with the broader community,” Maria Advenita Gita Elmada, Manager of the UMN Center for Sustainability, said.
The center will drive various cross-faculty collaborative programs, such as green skills training, community service projects focused on disaster mitigation and climate change, and sustainable lifestyle campaigns for the academic community. In the near future, UMN will also host Sustainability Week as a platform to reinforce its identity as a sustainable campus before all stakeholders.
With the establishment of the Center for Sustainability, UMN strengthens its role as a catalyst in accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and produces graduates who are not only academically competent but also socially and environmentally responsible.
