UMN Academic Council

The UMN Academic Council is a formal deliberative body established to foster structured, constructive, and inclusive dialogue between the university leadership and student representatives. As a strategic consultative platform, the Council plays a vital role in ensuring that student voices are not only heard but also meaningfully contribute to the university’s policy-making and strategic direction.

The Council provides a collaborative space where key institutional matters are discussed, student aspirations and concerns are voiced, and recommendations are formulated to enhance the university’s academic, administrative, and student life policies.

  2. Strategic Dialogue: Facilitate open discussion on current issues, future plans, and institutional priorities.
  3. Representation and Advocacy: Enable student leaders to convey student concerns, initiatives, and perspectives directly to university decision-makers.

Flagship Meeting: Bincang Hangat

The Council’s primary forum for interaction is a structured dialogue session called “Bincang Hangat” (meaning “Warm Discussion”). This meeting is convened at least once a year and serves as the formal space where members come together to reflect on university-wide matters, track progress on shared commitments, and discuss new developments.

Additional sessions may be convened based on emerging issues or special requests from any Council member, reflecting the Council’s commitment to responsiveness and adaptive governance.

Legal Foundation

The establishment, structure, and operational procedures of the UMN Academic Council are governed by the Rector’s Decree No.685/SK-R/XII/2024. This legal framework ensures that the Council’s processes are transparent, accountable, and aligned with the university’s governance standards.
